| Last year DS with 3.7 UW/4.1 W/Test optional/9 AP, IB, DE/top 10% of graduating class (not MCPS)/varsity captain didn't get in (undeclared major.) Friends with similar stats didn't get in either. |
In state? Which county? |

This is very depressing.

| Last year a quarter of the admitted students were spring admit (including mine). So that’s also always a possibility. He had something like 3.8/4.6, test optional, 7 APs. |
Did your kid take spring admit? Kid has 3.9/4.7, test optional, and 8 APs - so similar stats to your kid. Where did yours end up? |
And the school's position on free speech is baffling. With that said I am a UMD grad and my DS is a UMD grad (who gradutated with a nice job offer). I love the school but get that there are some serious issues. |
| Ditto. My kid got spring admit last year with 3.9W/4.6UW from a W school, 1420 SAT, 11 APs (mostly 4s), good ECs with leadership. |
Do you mind sharing what their major was? |
| sorry, NVM, I think I read elsewhere that UMD admits major blind |
That’s making me nervous. DD has 4.7 wgpa, but seems like kids at our W have 4.9s? How do they even do that? |
Crap tons of AP/IB. My DC had a 4.92 (4.0 unwgpa). Also had 58 credits going into UMD. |
+1 |
| It seems like it is easier OOS than from MCPS/BCC. It's crazy. My kid seems strong with very few Bs in high school but didn't submit her 1390 SAT so she's TO. |
In state. Anne Arundel County (for DS and his friends.) |
All of my friends who went to UMD in the late 80s/90s say they would have never gotten in now... |
