No, there's still a smokestack somewhere making electricity for you to drive.

But automakers can charge a lot more for an EV and soak up tax dollars thru subsidies. So the consumer is cut out of the decision making process. More and more of our economy is CAPTURED by big companies and Washington DC working together to screw the individual with less choice and less competition. Guaranteed outcomes are being forced upon consumers by the political establishment. That's really what's happening. If you can't see that, you're blind.

The EU has banned ICE cars by 2035 about 20% of the car market. China is the #1 car market in the world and 50% of their new car sales are NEVs(EVs and Hybrids). India's electric vehicle market is anticipated to expand at a CAGR of 28.52% to attain US$18.319 billion by 2029 from US$5.225 billion in 2024.

California and the 11 other states make up a 1/3 of the US new car market.

The California Air Resources Board lacks credibility when it comes to EV mandates. It’s crazy that history is repeating itself from their last failed attempt to mandate EV sales in the 90s. Just like last time, once the deadline comes they will quickly abandon it and move on. They are already not enforcing new zero emission truck rules that were supposed to come into effect this year.

It’s not an EV mandate. It is a zero emission on new car sales by 2035. In 2023 California zero-emission vehicles made up 26.7% of new vehicle registrations in California, up from 20% in 2022, 12% in 2021 and 7-8% in 2020.

It’s funny you maga do not even understand what the mandate is but still feel comfortable mouthing off about it. Now you expect us to believe you on anything else? Hey do your own “research”.

part of why it's unlivable is due to the high housing costs, which is not because of liberals, but because of how desirable it is to live there. Tons of high paying jobs, great weather and things to do year round.

Some of this generation capacity is demand response based and it is not economical to use demand response based electricity generation to boost annual electricity production by 40%. This will require a substantial number of new power plants.

You are correct. I got confused because you said generation and terawatts and I was expecting terawatthours. Capacity increased by 1.5% last year.

European automakers are reducing prices on EVs while raising prices on their ICE models, all in hopes of avoiding hefty fines as the European Union’s new emissions rules tighten at the beginning of 2025.
On January 1, the EU will drastically lower its cap on automotive CO2 emissions, meaning at least 20% of all sales from most car companies must be electric models to avoid heavy fines, Reuters reports. This year, 13% of all new cars sold in the region have been electric, according to the ACEA.

This is an interesting way to go. Germany tax incentives ended in 2023 but will be available for 2025. Current survey show 97% of EV driver will buy another EV and only 1% will not.
