Why are attitudes suddenly changing about Vance?

I'd never vote for Vance.

That was Kamala, hun.

You're stuck in your suburban neighborhood OP. Democrats loathe him. No one has forgotten his " childless cat lady" comments nor his discrimination of Haitians and his retelling falsehoods about immigrants in Springfield eating dogs + cats. Are you one of the Americans of the 54+% that Gallup reports as having under a 6th grade literacy rate? Seems so.

All Democrats don’t loathe him. Just the elite ones.

And the ones with lots of student debt.

He is working hard on the tradition team.

I have no doubt he is smart, but is he smarter than say Pete Buttigieg, Hakeem Jeffries or Josh Shapiro? I don't think so, and the other 3 are a lot more experienced and qualified than Vance, yet why is Vance suddenly getting positive press?

People saw him on the debate and heard him on podcasts and he impressed them by being well spoken. People who don't follow politics closely don't realize how confidently and calmly he spews lies or that he's a chameleon.

People with lots of college debt are entitled to have the federal government pay off those exorbitant loans.

I’m sure bots bought his best selling book and signed the Netflix deal for his movie and got Ron Howard to direct it, huh?

If you can’t figure out why a Trump co-signed, 40 something, Yale graduate with a hard scrabble upbringing from Appalachia and Ohio has a good chance to win in Rust Belt swing states and Georgia you don’t know anything about politics.

None of the Dems you mentioned could parry so well in a long form contentious interview like this. On top of that, he is less contrived and fake than Buttigieg and Shapiro, and has a much more compelling life story.

The call is out to start bashing him now. I'm sure we'll get non-stop stories about how he once killed an innocent squirrel with a bb gun when he was 10 or once failed to open a door for an old lady when he was at Ohio State. The playbook is getting old. What they fail to see is this Trump/Vance pulled the middle together and pushed the fringes on both sides further out.

Dems had a better chance in national politics in the pre-podcast / YouTube age where people couldn’t view primary sources themselves and had to rely almost exclusively on the mainstream media to summarize events for them.

Now, voters don’t need the NYTimes or the WaPo to tell them what Vance said in an interview or speech, they can view the entire speech themselves. And it’s hard to paint Vance as a “weird” guy who rants exclusively about childless cat ladies when there’s videos like this out here.

I have been following politics for 30 years. There hasn’t been a Republican candidate for national office with this type of natural appeal to working class / blue collar voters like this.

When you add on his appeal to young people because of his age and his appeal to POCs because he has biracial kids, he is going to be hard to beat. Especially if he pics a woman for VP.

Agree, and 4 years actually doing something as a Veep. Unlike someone else.

Slow down, skippy. He hasn't even taken office yet.

What are you talking about? Trump voters do not care about being well spoken. Trump is a lot of things but being well spoken is not one of them.

Short answer: Yes, he is smarter than they are. After 4 yrs of being VP he will also be more qualified for presidency than they are.

And yet, Trump won the election. If Trump can win the election by sounding like a senile buffoon, it's not hard to see how people could be swayed by a candidate who on Trump's side but is able to formulate intelligent sentences.

Vance is def. is def. becoming more palatable over time for me - like others I was not a fan at first but he really impressed me during the debate (and Walz really scared me actually....my negative reaction to Walzs performance was really unexpected, but I'm just being honest). I don't think Vance a terrible person despite his many gaffes - so in that sense he is similar to Biden in some ways. I think he has a heart and some humanity underneath it all. I think he will be a good "normal" person to have in the mix. Watch his older TED talks - he is very relatable in what he says.

Vance is a phony, and very strange. But GOP voters like that, so there you go.

Misinformation, disinforamtion, propaganda are real.

Yup, evil GOP playing the long game, allowing the end to justify the means.

I have never had a penny of student debt whereas, JD had the government pay for his OSU BA + Yale JD thru the military that he loathes and wants to slash for others.
