I'm suddenly seeing more posts here and on SM about Vance being "such a strong candidate" for 2028. What happened?? I find him so unlikeable, so creepy and definitely untrustworthy. I have no doubt he is smart, but is he smarter than say Pete Buttigieg, Hakeem Jeffries or Josh Shapiro? I don't think so, and the other 3 are a lot more experienced and qualified than Vance, yet why is Vance suddenly getting positive press? |
His public speaking is far more intelligible than that of t-rump.
Plus, his wife is BIPOC. |
I am one of the people who posted about Vance. I think you might have to step out of your bubble to see this, and I say this kindly. I have had Dem friends tell me they were impressed by him, after watching the debate. I have had multiple women say he looks very good and they feel sad for his upbringing. I have nothing for him, but do not underestimate him. And he will poll well in swing states - I live in one. I was one of the swing state people on here who told ya'll that I saw Trump signs and no Harris signs in my blue neighborhood. |
I don’t believe people generally hated Pence, even if they disagreed with his consistently traditional midwestern, honest, christian-conservative views.
He earned a grudging respect as a politician during his career. |
He's young, well spoken, intelligence, has common sense....Not a bad candidate for them in 4 years. The dems have much more work to do on this front in the next 4 years. |

There's a reason that his book was a bestseller for years.
However, I don't think he comes across that well, he has changed his spots at least once. He's young, yes, and he's got a ways to go. |

Attitudes are changing because his ticket won. In 2028 he'll find himself in the same situation Kamala Harris was in this year. Good luck. |
bs Stick you head in the sand again see what happens in four years. A clue: dems are not winning... |
The tide is changing. Not sure if a preference cascade is happening, but the Dem stranglehold on discourse is weakening every day.
Vance may be the guy in 2028. His fortune will depend on how well Trump 47 does, and that's an open question. |
I think this is just different strokes.... I find Vance very likeable and I find Buttigieg to be a smarmy phony. Yet all I read here is how wonderful he is. |
+1 The people who would vote for a POS like Trump should have no problem with a weirdo like Vance. |
+1. He's the Vice-President elect, like it or not. But that's not a very enviable position from which to launch a Presidential campaign. |
I’m sure bots bought his best selling book and signed the Netflix deal for his movie and got Ron Howard to direct it, huh? If you can’t figure out why a Trump co-signed, 40 something, Yale graduate with a hard scrabble upbringing from Appalachia and Ohio has a good chance to win in Rust Belt swing states and Georgia you don’t know anything about politics. None of the Dems you mentioned could parry so well in a long form contentious interview like this. On top of that, he is less contrived and fake than Buttigieg and Shapiro, and has a much more compelling life story. |
