There are no words or sentences that can change the fact that Trump is not an equivalent. Blustering on about this sh*t is like justifying drinking bleach because ‘apple juice has trace levels of arsenic” If you’re voting for Trump it’s in 90% of cases bc you’re angry about your life and a batsh*t crazy person has found a framework whereby what’s bad about it is not your fault. |
While there are still obviously a lot of cult members, at the end of the day, this election won't be that close. Nate whatever his name is admitted that the polling has been manipulated to be close because pollsters didn't want to be accused of undersampling Trump support again. If you correct the numbers accordingly, Harris is up in most of the swing states and 4-5 points nationally. The turnout numbers relative to 2020 for the democrats show this already. |
McConnnell stacked the supreme court already. The goal would be to right size it as was done when it went from 5 to 9, because there were 9 Districts. There are now 13. So it should be expanded. Harris would sign the immigration bill. Trump has not made that promise and he killed it once already. The GOP business owners need the cheap labor. Don't be fooled by his rhetoric. |
Sure, the billionaire running with the backing of a couple’s dozen other billionaires is so anti-establishment. |
People think he's anti-establishment because he's a jerk, and miss the fact that he gets away with being a jerk because he is part of and has been heavily protected by the establishment. Most people who behave the way Trump does don't become billionaires. They wind up divorced and alienated from their kids and blustering about taxes and how the government is coming after him for evasion in a bar on a Friday night. Trump is only in the position he's in because his dad was wealthy and that wealth has protected him from the consequences of his worst decisions. |
The incredibly sad thing is that people in this country are not willing to truly listen to other people’s experiences, perspectives and thus opinions. |
They are broken. |
Sure we do, but when a "political argument" includes marginalizing people based on immigration status, race or pregnancy status, it is hard to take the rest of the discussion seriously. |
It’s close because Trump can be divisive and the media hates him and has been trashing him for the last 8 years. He is strong on all the issues that matter to most Americans- the economy, inflation, national security, the border, crime, and energy independence/cost. Other than abortion (which admittedly gets her some votes), what is her position or policy on these issues? I’ve listened to her speak, many times, and for the life of me, I can’t figure out what she is saying, other than she is not Trump. |
This me you don't even have to get into identity politics. He's a jerk across the board. Like yes as a woman I'm horrified by how he talks about women and how he's treated women. But he's terrible to men too! Did you see him calling his staffers stupid and threatening to fire them because he was unhappy with his mic at a rally? He's just a mean, vindictive bully. He doesn't have the capacity for empathy or kindness. I don't want someone like that in charge of anything. |
Agreed. And the alternative is a disaster. She can’t articulate her position on any issue, other than abortion. She had one who job during her stint as VP, the border czar, and she failed miserably. She ran from the issue because she thought it might hurt her politically. |
You forgot eliminating the fillisbuster. That alone should disqualify her. That people can't see how antithetical that is to represesentative government just floors me. |
Agree Harris is a disaster and her VP pick
worse. |
He’s so clearly worse on the economy and inflation if you are looking at things the president can do. I mean tariffs are a recipe for recession and inflation and that’s his signature policy. He killed the border bill so he could run on the issue. I don’t know how you could possibly listen to his speeches and her speeches and think she doesn’t have policies and isn’t more coherent than he is. Enough with the electric boats and sharks and calling this country a shithole. |
Polls show Harris is now more trusted on economic issues than trump. So apparently her message and policies are convincing people, even if not you. Trump gets a lot of interest because he talks about the issues people are already upset about (and he stokes their upset). But he doesn't really propose solutions. People understand his tarriff's are not a smart solution and would increase prices. His solution in immigration is "mass deportation" with no explanation of logistically how we'd accomplish that (it would be incredibly expensive) or any consideration given to what happens if you depart a bunch of low wage workers at once. So sure-- he gets points for talking about the issues people care about. But Harris has actually articulated achievable policy proposals to address those issues and it's clear her message is breaking through Trump's inflammatory rhetoric. Even when people have issues with her proposals, they are the kind of same policy proposals that you CAN take issue with and tweak and compromise to reach a solution. Trump takes these extreme, unrealistic, unnuanced positions and while that might seem appealing at first, they don't stand up to scrutiny. |
