I encounter many moms in the waiting rooms who had their kids in their 40s. Yes, you can have a healthy child and if she has a child with SN she can afford all the interventions, but I am not in the "good for her" camp. There are so many risks and it's not aspirational.

-1. All of my friends with special needs kids had that one as their first. I have 5-6 good friends off the top of my head with a kid with autism/delays/genetic defects/birth injury, they all have 3 kids each, and in all 5 cases it's the first that was the unlucky draw.

Very strong likelihood of special needs. It's often old sperm that's the issue. 35 is the edge for men.

LOL, no it is not the edge. So much misinformation. I actually don't know a single man who became a dad under the age of 35! (I live in San Fran area) None of them have kids with issues, in fact most kids are very smart and driven.

Oh, you kill a few dozen babies to get a good one. Awesome.

Embryos are not babies, my goodness. Embryos are a few days older than my period, to which I have zero attachment.

You likely can. 42 is totally possible. 45 is pushing it as the chances drop dramatically after 44.

She looks amazing and happy. There are so many miserable people on here that are clearly so jealous of her! You all should spend more time taking care of yourselves, and maybe you can have Gisele’s level of vitality, too.

This is so inspiring.

Geez. I always assumed it was older men. Statistically, the commonality seems to be you here. How do you know so many women with children with autism/delays/genetic defects/birth injuries?

I've always loved her. Usually it's the older divorced dads starting a new life/ family with a younger woman. Boy oh boy do I know plenty of that. I am very happy for her.

My own kids were born at 26 (first Dh), 36 and 43 (2nd DH). No SN. My kids loved their new siblings.

don’t confuse your small sample size and luck in your social circle with accurate medical information and probability.

+1 i was a kid in this situation too and it's not a fun position. My mom got with my sister's dad incredibly fast too. I like the guy and they're still together but I felt uneasy for a few years until I moved out. You can't help but feel replaceable.

??
Do you mean "became impregnate by?"

Sure, if you want an 18 year old at 62.

She will have plenty of help, so it won't be as bad as you think. For many MC/UMC, you are correct—it would not be as fun!
