Saying most citizens of Mexico are “indigenous people” is like saying I’m an indigenous person of Northern Europe, despite never having been there, not speaking the language, and not understanding or knowing the first thing about it - but I’m definitely indigenous to Northern Europe. Yep.

DP - disagree. It was a valid view by the new Mexican president. She was t asking for reparations but for an apology and opening up dialogue about colonial history has impacted so many Mexicans in ongoing ways .

Also dismissing concerns about ongoing struggles for native peoples as “whole indigenous crap” is living in la la land . Even in US - life expectancies for indigenous peoples are incredibly low as are very high rates of DV, substance abuse and poverty. The native Americans who are taught to take pride in their languages, cultures and customs tend to have more self respect and agency.
