Do you know your IQ?

I had a 139 when I was 14. I haven't taken it since. I had only slightly above average SAT scores though!

That’s the only way I know what mine is, 125. The lowest one was 90 and I felt bad that everyone then knew it.

There's some confirmation bias. Those of us who scored well don't mind answering the question. But also, let's not forget the demographics of the DC are and DCUM. We are more highly educated than the average, and the IQ test definitely shows privilege bias.

I’ve often wondered that. My mother has minimal education due to her circumstances growing up, but she’s much more intelligent than any of her children. We’ve all had far more education than her.

There are many types of intelligence of course. I’m not sure how useful these scores are. I would guess they are far too simplistic.

This. Grit and EQ are far more important in life. The very things that someone with a high childhood IQ may lack. Brains are plastic. Life is hard.

It's a bell curve -- most people are clustered around 100, very few at either end. 70% of people are between 85 and 120. I specifically recall being pulled out for GT testing in third grade to take some quick test on shapes that was over my head. I recall my mom saying the cutoff was 120 and I got 110. Wasn't a big deal, the other smart girl in the class didn't make it either. 30 years later I'm assuming it was some sort of IQ test and that was my result but who knows. This came up again when I had my son take a WISC for AAP. He scored much higher than me fwiw. My mom has no recollection of me being tested or my score.

I was tested in ES. Found the paperwork a few years ago (I’m 52). It said 135. I am sure it’s lower now. One of my kids was tested was part of a neuropsych-145.

I tested at 150 and 146 in elementary school and then in high school. My kids both tested between 125 and 130.

And the ones who claimed they were in the top 2% didn’t know this very basic information when they were writing things like “busboy” or whatever.

I tested high as a child but then as an adult I think I looked for tests again to re-measure and got freaked out by the math. I am incredibly smart, but not mathematic brained. I don't know how you measure that as an adult.

An actual IQ test is not “quick”. It was probably just a test on basic ability with their own scoring system.
