If they are their own LEA, he won't. In DC, each charter school is independent (that's the whole point) and is their own LEA. They have to comply with the Charter Board regs, but not DCPS. |
You have some serious issues. |

This is Maryland not DC. |
Not when there's no MVA |
The whole point of charters is that they run their own school. Where does it say how it will be set up and that they will report to the super? |
DP. It's a weird set up, I agree (I'm used to the one in DC), but it is in fact how things work: https://ww2.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/policy/pdf/cfb.pdf The whole process is overseen by the Superintendent based on the BOE's policy. |
I don't read this as saying that once the school is established and classes start, he has much or anything to do with it. Language is vague. But this is the policy that the BOE approves; normally, there is a reg that MCPS puts in place to lay out more specifically what each part of the policy means. Has MCPS put that out? |
| What does Taylor say about MAPS? docsend.dropbox.com/view/q6yk4jqdcdrbfeqn |
"The Maryland Action Plan to Prevent Suicide in Schools (MAPS) is a comprehensive reference guide developed in partnership with the Office of Suicide Prevention and experts Dr. Scott Poland and Dr. Donna Poland. MAPS aims to equip K-12 public and private school communities with the necessary tools for effective suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention. MAPS provides evidence-based resources tailored for school administrators, mental health professionals, teachers, students, and caregivers." |
They did not evaporate. They will always be MVA students. |
It is not weird it is Maryland law. If you lived here you would know. This is not MCPS’ first charter school. |
There's no MVA, so there are no MVA students. There are students in home schools. There are students in special programs. There are students in private school. And there are a small number of students receiving IIS or being homeschooled by parents. But there are no MVA students. |
I do live here, and I understand that that's Maryland law. The fact that I think the law is weird (or more accurately, badly designed) does not mean that I don't live here. |
Taylor has a bigger fish to fry post Friday football game. |
