Not another school for this and other for former mva-ers etc.?
Omfg Isn’t he the superintendent?
Not for the non-existent MVA.
How sick are you? Yes, he is still the omfg superintendent for all MCPS students, even the charter school students.
There are no charter school students in Montgomery County.
Next year there will be a charter.
Won't they be their own LEA? I don't think he will have anything to do with them.
He will be their superintendent.
If they are their own LEA, he won't. In DC, each charter school is independent (that's the whole point) and is their own LEA. They have to comply with the Charter Board regs, but not DCPS.
This is Maryland not DC.
The whole point of charters is that they run their own school. Where does it say how it will be set up and that they will report to the super?
DP. It's a weird set up, I agree (I'm used to the one in DC), but it is in fact how things work: https://ww2.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/policy/pdf/cfb.pdf The whole process is overseen by the Superintendent based on the BOE's policy.
I don't read this as saying that once the school is established and classes start, he has much or anything to do with it. Language is vague. But this is the policy that the BOE approves; normally, there is a reg that MCPS puts in place to lay out more specifically what each part of the policy means. Has MCPS put that out?
