Back to Taylor. I hope he will get rid of the honors for all model. It is really not helpful to anyone.

I think when I talked with mcea they turned around and told admin that I was talking behind their back about the incessant violence that was going on that year and the lack of support and security because the days following I had admin on back amping up my work load. At the time u was the first u last out of the building and was working all weekend long to grade papers and it turned into burnout. Nothing was ever enough for these gym teacher turned admins. They dont nderstand what real teachers go through.

So many teachers complain about MCEA. Why isn't there more outright rebellion?

It's an incredibly corrupt institution that only looks out for the desires of a small group. And that small group definitely doesn't include any students.

MCEA’s constituents they need to serve are teachers not students.

Who is serving the students/families? One man for himself? Or does the MCCPTA help students and families?:

Mccpta is a joke too. They push their personal agenda and don’t do much more than show. They do a lot to hurt kids with their nonsense.

Such as?
-new to MCPS

Yes such as? They have been the ones that pushed for early community conversations about boundary studies. MS novel studies. Digital balance resolution. If more families actually got involved in their PTAs and MCCPTA (and not just to plan parties or fundraisers) imagine what could be accomplished.

Agree. MCCPTA is trying to hold MCPS accountable and pushing to improve programming.

MCCPTA has changed leadership recently and not everyone in the organization agrees with holding MCPS’s feet to the fire.

Many in the MCCPTA world prioritize their access and proximity to MCPS leadership over challenging the system on making good on the promises it makes.

Completely disagree with you. Leadership is there expressly to improve outcomes for students. If they only cared about their own kids, they could do that without all the work that is involved in MCCPTA leadership positions.

MCCPTA gives them access to closed door MCPS meetings. Regular parents don’t get that.

Meetings with MCPS don't amount to anything meaningful. I've been in those meetings. The meetings are not an accomplishment when they don't lead to changed outcomes.

Exactly

Really? No changes at all, even though the last super was fired?

I don't feel like I'm in a position to know whether he has made changes. I'm a parent, not a teacher/staff member.

As a parent, you should pay attention to what's going on. Have you seen or heard of any changes? If you haven't he hasn't done much.

To be fair, MOST parents would not yet see the changes of Taylor's leadership. Only parents who are very engaged with the system through PTSA or other advocacy groups or watch all local news and BOE meetings would be in a position to tell if there's been a shift or not. And that's a minority group of parents who have that time, energy or interest.

He sent out the Blended Learning option for medically impacted students to all mcps families before staff were informed of the option.

You do realize its not actually a thing and many students are being denied access to it. It hasn't even been set up yet, no funding and no staff have been hired.

We haven't seen any leadership and he's had 4 months.

HA! Well, it's nice for STAFF to be on the receiving end of a surprise for once instead of it always being parents who get things sprung on them last minute.

I didn't say he demonstrated leadership yet. I merely defended the fact that most average MCPS parents wouldn't really be in a position to judge his leadership yet. That is if they even know who he is....

Which is exactly the problem. Only a small fraction of parents are engaged.

Engaging with the system is at minimum a part-time job and easily a full-time one if you want it to be. Laura Stewart certainly turned it into one.

Most normal, middle-class parents can't afford to give away that much of their time for free and sustain a living.

If the system requires a significant portion of parents to donate their free labor to function well, then I would say that's a broken, dysfunctional structure.
