yes, but we are wondering about the opposite. how many 4.0 kids go to crappy schools.

Lots of 4.0s go to UVA.

you must have money to waste, would have been better for vtech, UVA or even gmu

PP, realize you're a troll. WL at UVA. Didn't apply to the other two. Received some merit. Appreciate your observation/suggestion.

What's crappy? Best students at our school stay in-state for the most part. Then a couple go to Tulane, Vanderbilt...The rich ones.

Tulane is crappy. Vanderbilt is ok.

Your post about Tulane is based on what exactly? Our kid is at Tulane and it seems everyone there is driven. DC said if they aren't taking 16+ credits a semester, they aren't keeping up. Lots of double majors or multiple minors. Like DC's classmates, DC has placed very well with internships and has a post-grad job offer. Sorry if your kid didn't have a good outcome, but that doesn't seem to be the norm.

And Vanderbilt is "okay" lol!

Different poster: Tulane has a lovely setting but it is a major party school. We went to one of the admitted students days and found that to be a real turn off. From talking to the students and parents, I would say parties are more important than studying.

Admitted students we knew spent a large part of admitted students days going to "darties" while their parents attended events supported by the school. To each their own.

Of course there is a fit for every school. But the poster was saying the norm at Tulane is 16 credits a semester or you're not keeping up and kids are really driven (academically) and the response to THAT question is: Tulane is a huge party school, as you've noted. For some kids/families, this is still a good fit and they go to Tulane because of that. My guess is it is far rarer for kids to go to Tulane mostly for the academics, in spite of the partying.

PP who posted Berkeley OOS w/ Regents - DS never received A- or B+ so it was 4.0 UW and 4.59 W.

The lesson seems to be that if you want to go to a good school get a 4.0 UW and a 1540/35.

I think our work is done here.

Uw 4.0 is 1/3 of the graduating class. They go to a wide variety including CNU JMU UVA and occasionally elites.

I think the crazies are already here. The ones who use the word curated when talking about their child’s life.
