Where did your UW 4.0 kid go to college?

Berkeley OOS w/ Regents.

This is impressive and makes me wondering if my high stats DC should consider UC schools (I really don't want to pay OOS tuition for a state school and we are not in Calif). What does the Regents cover? All of the OOS tuition or just part of it? What other schools did your DC consider?

Attends Stanford; Berkeley Regents & USC Presidential Scholar

Child spent very little time on academics (1.5-2 hrs of schoolwork/night, did not prep for SAT exam, anything above 1550+ is excellent so don't waste time on the 1600). Bulk of time was spent on extracurricular activities.

Congrats! What type of extracurriculars? Did your DC apply early anywhere? what were the safety schools (not that they needed it)?

1600 doesn’t matter since they are test blind, right?

He had incredible extracurriculars and we curated his application starting from freshman year. I had a relative that was a former admissions officer at Penn, Vanderbilt, and Duke. We knew what we were doing.

Sounds stress-free

Genuine question: with school districts like FCPS not showing anywhere what the UW GPA is and showing only the lettered grade on their report card, how do you calculate your DCs UW GPA?

At least the poor kid managed to get as far away as he could.

NP. You do realize it's possible the kid didn't apply to those schools--or did apply to one or more and didn't get in. Why not hold off on judgy comments when you really don't know just about anything about this family?
