I’m not a big “don’t recline” person, but …

^^obnoxious. what makes you more special than everyone else? nobody has their seat reclined other than 1 or 2 very tall men, who I don’t begrudge.

What do you mean? Everyone has the option to recline, special has nothing to do with it

Look around you. Ask yourself why you are behaving differently than others and what entitles you to do that.

The price of my ticket and the seat options allow me to do that. I don't give a rat's ass what you or anyone else does.

There are so many people like you and you make life unnecessarily unpleasant. It's not about the reclining. It's this self-absorbed attitude. You also likely are a terrible driver, cut lines, think the rules don't apply to you, and yet complain loudly when you don't get your way. Honestly, you are a selfish jerk and you suck.

You may be the most un-self aware person on the planet. Someone is doing something completely within their rights and that makes you mad - who’s the selfish jerk? Since you’re so clueless I’ll answer that for you - you are the selfish jerk. And none too bright to boot.

I am GENUINELY a DP, and it is my guess that what made him mad was the "I don't give a rat's ass what you or anyone else does." comment. The OP's original comment, which I do not agree with, was fairly benign.

The "I don't give a rat's ass" was me and I'm not OP. That was in response to "look around you and make sure you're doing what everyone else is doing" instruction. So if everyone else decides to stand, I should do the same? How about if everyone else decides to jump up and down?

Do you read the comments you reply to? I agree it is your right to recline and no you need not do as others do, and said so several times. It's the "I don't give a rat's ass what you or anyone else does" that I find not only distasteful but lowers you to the position you object to. It's self-defeating. If there was not one single response to OP you'd have had the win you clearly require for some reason.

There was no reason to go "I don't give a rat's ass what you or anyone else does".

And before you respond to that I know you don't give a rats ass about that either. But maybe you should.

I wasn’t responding to you with that comment. Not even sure why you keep posting other than to read your own words.

Because I think people should be nicer and better here than you were being. You over-reacted 100%. And now you choose to insult me, that's fine, that is your prerogative as well. So I won't comment on this any more as you request. But my point has been made.

That’s your opinion. Me reclining or pointing out that I don’t care what anyone else does with their seats is neither rude nor an over-reaction. I would venture to say that telling me I’m somehow being rude for simply doing what I’m entitled to do is pretty rude. You have a nice day.

NP - There are lots and lots of things someone is "entitled to do" in daily life that unequivocally would be considered rude. I could pepper every conversation I have with obscenities, including when I am speaking to your children. That's rude, right? But I'm entitled to do it. I can park so close to someone else that it is impossible for them to get into their car, or pull their car from a parallel parking spot. As long as I'm legally parked, I'm entitled to do that - but it's rude. I could go on.

I don't think you have thought this through.

Your days, and life, would likely be so much happier and stress free if you stopped worrying about people who recline on flights. If it's not everyone, great! If it is everyone, you're in the minority! Either way, it isn't something that really affects your daily life. Live and let live.

No, I don’t think you have. None of your examples make sense. There are obscene language laws and you are most certainly not entitled to spew obscenities at children. Parking so close to the other car is a parking violation and could result in a ticket. Both of those are very clearly “against the rules.” Me reclining my seat is not against any rules other than the ones made up in your head. So you might want to think again.

The lady might have severe back pain and needs to recline her seat.

Grow up OP. Yawn.

Didn’t we just have this exact argument a week or two ago? No one is convincing anyone although I have sympathy for OP
Anonymous
The seat moves like an inch. Get a grip.

It's probably the same poster making all these threads

Curious as to why she would be less entitled to recline than others. You don't know anything about what back problem she suffers from, or really, anything else about her.

Luckily bulkhead and emergency exit rows exist where seats don’t recline

If you want a bigger seat, buy a bigger seat. Don't steal from the person sitting in front of you.

Let’s just get rid of reclining seats on planes.

I’m 5’1…..

But I also have a herniated disk in my back and had surgery not too long ago. Sitting for that long is torture. Reclining helps a lot.

Don’t judge me for my height.

You really don't fly much.

NP here, and I fly week in and between Europe and Asia, and live here for work. Most people do not recline in the daytime. For night flights, the etiquette is that you recline after dinner when the lights are dimmed, if it is a long flight.

It really is uncouth to recline in the day. Nobody is going to publicly call you out, but you are making yourself look like an ignorant clod, much like the person wearing a fanny pack or talking really loudly in public so that everyone around you can hear you all the time, or wearing those stupid giant American tee shirts with Disney characters on them. ‘Merica, and it is your right! But uncouth.

She can recline all she wants, but it's still low class behavior.

I have flown 2-3x a month this summer with vacation and travel sports. It’s rare that I see anyone recline, regardless of their height.
