who have never held a real job. |
Historic Greenbelt has some of the strangest people that I've seen in the DMV. There are a lot of Millenials/Gen Z's mixed in with the 70 something hippies. |
The median age is 41. That's OLD! so you are going to get cranky. https://www.point2homes.com/US/Neighborhood/MD/Takoma-Park-Demographics.html |
And Glenmont / Wheaton |
Then how do they buy $1 mil homes? |
Trust fund |
Not usually in Takoma Park. |
-OR- You are totally full of hateful BS. Gee I wonder which it is? Hundreds upon hundreds of million dollar homes all owned by people with Trust funds or maybe they actually do have jobs? |
Absolutely in Takoma Park. The majority of the activists/hippies remaining are trust fund kids. They don’t need to work, they are removed from reality and are looking for purpose. |
75-year-old trust fund "kids", if so. |
Exactly, I am one of those « normal » upper middle class families and I def chose takoma park because of its leftist reputation, values/politics AND the old hippies. I love the vibe, the quirkiness, and find Takoma torch website hilarious. TKPK has a soul and is a unique little town. I hope it stays this way and people don’t come only for the convenience |
People in Takoma Park word hard to keep their unique little town. |
Right, kids (sons/daughters) of wealthy parents who have trust funds. Lots of them Takoma Park. They don’t need to work and can just be activists all day. They also don’t have a sense of reality. |
There’s you and there are others who don’t really care about the lefty vibe. It’s just a great place to live. Silver Spring is amorphous and generally dull, more suburban and much more disconnected from DC. |
I’m a 45 year old woman in a $1M+ Takoma park house. Neither my husband nor I have trust funds. We both have regular DC jobs, HHI is around $325k. Like most of the dozens and dozens of families we know in TP - we bought our first house in TP 15 years ago with a small down payment. We are solidly left leaning and chose TP bc of the its values and quirkiness. But nobody would call us, nor any of our friends “hippies.” |
