They have their own parody site it's so bad:
https://takomatorch.com/ |
|
The site is cringe. The guy that runs it is cringe. And to confirm how weird Takoma Park is, apparently his wife is Republican. |
This is true and false. Those white collar families chose to live with the hippies because they enjoy it and mostly agree with them. |
I didn't know anything about the author, but some of the articles are pretty hilarious. |
And who need real jobs. |
Well the rest of you keep voting for them. Takoma Park isn't big enough to vote their own politicians in on their own. |
Okay Eric. |
Omg I’m 100% sure I know who wrote this and he is insufferable. |
You are wrong. I wrote this and I’m a woman. |
Disagree. We largely agree on national political issues but less so on local issues. Many of us support upzoning and the older TP folks are mostly staunchly opposed. White collar families choose TP because the schools are good, there is a cute, walkable downtown area, it’s close to DC, neighborhoods have a community feel and it’s more affordable than Bethesda with more diverse housing stock. |
This. |
| As long as you don’t delve too deeply into the various Takoma listservs, you’ll be fine. |
| As houses get more expensive in TP, the people are less and less like you describe. The nature of the talk you went to probably attracted those types. Those types also are active in local government. Most people in TP are nice and normal and are there to take advantage of the schools and location. |
