They do residency checks. That’s why the send letters in the mail once or twice a year. Returned mail gets investigated. Schools also make inquiries about residency when there is a concern.

Doesn’t catch the scofflaws who collect their mail at their fake address.

I tried years ago to have FCPS investigate how my neighbor’s two GC who lived in MD with their divorced mom were allowed to attend HS. Especially suspect when we as neighbors had to hear how tough it was for this grandma to “be all by herself” and a call to help her since she was all alone. Really?

Never saw those students or their mom in our neighborhood. Obvious they didn’t live there. Wrote a note to principal sharing my concerns and it went to some sort of truant investigator. Both kids graduated from the HS.

Would not want to be your neighbor, I generally like to surround myself with non-snitches.

The Hayfield principal is heavily involved with the football team. He has told staff to stop gossiping or else. It’s currently so toxic at Hayfield.

It's toxic to tell staff to stop gossiping about students without facts?!?!? Got it!

Nice try. It’s toxic to threaten staff with negative evaluations for discussing concerns regarding the actions of adults. Got it, now?

Those poor kids at Hayfield. smh

At the end of the day we’re still talking about teenagers who are excelling on and off the field. Some of these comments are disturbing. Lol “My tax dollars”. WOW, really?

Excelling off the field? Where is the proof of that? These kids are being allowed to break the rules because of football

Hayfield parents address the allegations: https://youtu.be/jMO9WL7xlj4?si=dWwp0HjJJx-ZfpTg

Main arguments, as of twelve minutes in when I stopped watching:
* I live in Fairfax County
* I didn't see any bullying

I like the lady with the dog.

What a joke. Lucky comments are turned off

Encourage you to check some of these “transfer” players GPAs listed out on there X account. Unless we don’t consider above a 3.0 excelling anymore.

Shouldn't the new kids be benched for a year?

Doesn't VHSL have rules in place to prevent these types of transfers?

I believe that was the rule in the olden days. But it appears so many players now transfer among schools these days for sports, and they don’t have to wait a year if they establish residency.

The smoke detector periodically signaling low battery was a nice touch, I thought.

Who lists high school students' GPA's on social media? Isn't that a privacy violation?

It’s the student athletes account. GPAs are normally listed for college recruiting purposes.

Every person on this thread who is a Fairfax County tax payer needs email the superintendent, and tell her how we are disgusted our taxpayer money is paying for these Prince William county kids to attend school.

[quote=Anonymous]Use the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act

“Anyone who lacks a fixed, regular and adequate night time residence is considered homeless.”. The word regular can be very loosely interpreted and admins do not push back on any claims.

This is (allegedly) being used by a lot of football players to transfer from Freedom HS in Prince William to Hayfield in FCPS to follow coach Overton. Freedom won back to back state titles.

Not sure why he would leave - but he’s now at Hayfield and 25-30 of his former players from a different county are now there.

lol I truly hope these kids are all legitimately protected and they run the score up on every FCPS they play. If your kid attends Hayfield and you’re scared he won’t play, then help him work on his skills. These are kids we’re talking about.
