So not TOO much above the national average of 1050, then

Bringing in all those PWC football players will get that average score down real quick.

So, if I were moving out of the area, in our case overseas, and I wanted my kids to go to a school district I wouldn't otherwise be able to afford, I can say they don't yet have a reliable place to sleep (which would be true)? Would they technically be required to change schools when we did?

I believe that the policy for families experiencing homelessness (sadly, many actually are) is a US policy/law. You would have to follow the guidelines of the country that you are moving to. It is also my understanding that when families say that they are displaced, they work with internal & external resources to find housing. Those claiming to be homeless, but are not, will be quickly discovered. I think it’s much more likely that the HSS transfer players are using addresses for a paper trail, but living in their zoned counties.

I dont like it, but I accept transferring within the County for athletics, but my taxes are supposed to go up $500 this year. I will be damned if this money is going towards the education of PWCo kids.

Wait until you hear about the kids from other countries coming here and getting an education in Fairfax Co in the last few years! You can expect your taxes to go up even further as these kid come with expensive needs.

They do residency checks. That’s why the send letters in the mail once or twice a year. Returned mail gets investigated. Schools also make inquiries about residency when there is a concern.

BS.

We know a family that moved at the end of elementary school and stayed in their old zone through graduation, using a family member's address that was sold 2 years after the family started using it to another family with kids.

FCPS never did anyone about it, even though the school is over capacity.

There is a racial identity angle here which the school and coaching staff believe will insulate them. As someone who was involved in national level competition, the football culture always disappointed.

I’ve lived in my house 12 years, I still get mail for the previous owners. I throw it away, l don’t return it to sender. I can’t be the only one.

The Hayfield principal is heavily involved with the football team. He has told staff to stop gossiping or else. It’s currently so toxic at Hayfield.

It's toxic to tell staff to stop gossiping about students without facts?!?!? Got it!

Doesn’t catch the scofflaws who collect their mail at their fake address.

I tried years ago to have FCPS investigate how my neighbor’s two GC who lived in MD with their divorced mom were allowed to attend HS. Especially suspect when we as neighbors had to hear how tough it was for this grandma to “be all by herself” and a call to help her since she was all alone. Really?

Never saw those students or their mom in our neighborhood. Obvious they didn’t live there. Wrote a note to principal sharing my concerns and it went to some sort of truant investigator. Both kids graduated from the HS.

NP. The faculty is talking among themselves about what is actually happening in their classrooms. So until the Administration is prepared to provide an answer beyond something to the effect of "every student-athlete at Hayfield satisfies the VHSL/FCPS conditions for participation," teachers will talk amongst themselves to try to understand what is going on.

Those who want to quell the search for answers might characterize these conversations as gossip.

Gossip - casual or unconstrained conversation or reports about other people, typically involving details that are not confirmed as being true

Teachers talking with no facts is gossip. Unless they do an investigation themselves and have evidence, the conversation is gossip.

And what horrible teachers Hayfield has such that they would sit around and talk about students not belonging at the school with no facts. That school has a lot of issues beyond this, namely terrible teachers.

Nice try. It’s toxic to threaten staff with negative evaluations for discussing concerns regarding the actions of adults. Got it, now?
