What terminology has stuck with your family from the little kid days?

"Merote" for remote (DS). "Booger holes" for nostrils (DD). "Oui fee", courtesy of an Airbnb host in France when kids were maybe 10 -- they didn't get that he was talking about wifi. "Tay-cos" for tacos, "ta-males" for tamales since my grandmother (who had never encountered Mexican food) said it that way once, and my CA-raised kids thought it was hilarious.

DD was really fascinated by early human ancestors when she was in elementary school. She’d learned about homo habilis, homo heidelbergensis, homo erectus, etc. Because she had no idea that “homo” could be considered a slur, she innocently blurted out, “Can you imagine what those homos would think of us today?!” at dinner with relatives.
