So... what WOULD you wear to the WH-Japan state dinner?

They range from cute to okay to boring to Gilead formal.

The White House is not the Oscars and DC is not LA. These events are not about fashion, they’re about international relations.

Yes, I love the idea of something cherry blossom pink but not obviously floral

Another option for Biden's granddaughter, though I liked her choice:
It has the iconic Japanese peach fade

These are americana-ish to me but keeping with the floral trend

I would choose this:

Or

It's solid so I'd pair with something a bit bolder in my hair

or something with gingko or Japanese maple leaves to stand out even more

Events like this are always about fashion, it's not a board meeting or summit. Hillary had one of the best looks and very much considered style and art, it's important. Life isn't always about being as plain as possible.

I could wear anything and it would look appropriate because I don’t have giant fake porn boobs.

This is such an interesting thought experiment and it’s impressive that folks readily found stuff without benefit of a professional stylist.
And what would I do with my hair?!
Hoping to get in on this game- thanks OP!

I LOVE the first one but I think it's actually too formal for this with that big skirt. The second one is too matronly for his granddaghter. The black floral with the deep v is pretty, but maybe too deep given her biuld.

Those first two are awesome. I don't care for the third (looks too much like Laura Ashley curtains.) The fourth is okay. I was surprised how many pretty things I found quickly -- I posted for myself (flat-chested 50 year old, size 6), but I also saw a bunch of things that I would have liked if I was 25 with a better build, or if I was 70 and needed a little more coverage than I currently do. I do think it's an interesting assignment to post for a particular age/vbody type. It's clearly not a one size fits all thing.
