So... what WOULD you wear to the WH-Japan state dinner?

Anonymous
Someone suggested in the thread on Lauren Sanchez's WH state dinner dress that we start a thread where people can post what they actually would wear to such an event, since obviously people have a lot of opinions. I thought it was a good idea, so here you go! I also think a lot of the fashions at this week's dinner were meh, so let's see what DCUM would do. Sheer corsets in red lace? Caftans? Floral capes? Or something else?

Photos are STRONGLY encouraged, so here is a quick primer on how to embed a photo in a DCUM post:

1. Once you find the photo you want online, right click and select "Open image in new tab [or window]"
2. Go to the new tab or window and copy the address. Ideally it should end in ".jpg" -- if it doesn't, maybe try a different photo as I've found other formats don't work as well
3. Click "Post reply" in this thread to open the DCUM comment editor (it's easier to embed a photo in the editor than in the "quick reply" box)
4. Paste the address into your DCUM post
5. Highlight the address and select "Img" from the list of HTML formatting options at the top
6. Preview your post to make sure it is displaying the embedded photo correctly
7. Publish post

I'll post mine below.

I finally learned how to post images! Thanks, OP. My image is just for laughs.

I feel like to make this really fair you have to post your agr and size or generall body type.

Not a Hillary moo moo, that’s for sure. She should stick to pant suits.

Are there instructions to do it on a phone? I can’t right click on an iPhone.

I’m not the biggest Hillary fan, but that caftan was fantastic and God bless her for letting her fashion freak flag fly.

I also loved the caftan and could see myself wearing something like that. It's actually one of the most fashionable things she's ever worn. That's not a criticism of her clothes -- not everyone needs to be fashionable, and she found clothes that worked for her and that she appeared to be comfortable in and good for her. But that caftan looked like something a really stylish and flamboyant older woman would wear (think Iris Apfel) and I love that for her.

This is great and the pink is perfect for this event.

Fair how? People could just lie, plus this would just invite a bunch of DCUM fashion nasties to come on and either accuse people of lying ("you can't be a size 2 unless you will admit to an eating disorder right now!") or tell them how bad the dresses will look on their bodies.

None of us is going to a White House state dinner -- this is just fantasy. Post whatever you want even if it's not perfect for your body type. Assume you'd be in your best shape and have access to an excellent tailor and miracle undergarments.

Probably this:

Or this:

This is more my style, but it feels too casual:

41 and size 6

And you should stick to keeping your lips zipped!

Top is ugly, bottom and pink is pretty but long, elegant and formal.

Awww I thought Hillary looked pretty. The pink was a really nice color on her.

Yes, her true kittenish playfulness really came to the surface.
