What restaurant does everyone love but you think is meh?

Things that are good at Uncle Julios - margaritas, queso, guac, chips

Things that are meh at Uncle Julios - ALL of the actual food

Someone mentioned Zatinya; I've been going for 20 years and still find it consistently delicious.

Yes! I just ate at Zaytinya a couple weeks ago as a reunion get-together with a friend that moved away from DC 7 years ago and was in town on a work trip. We were both so happy to see the quality is still top notch and the restaurant looks great and our service was excellent during a busy lunch service. Yes, it's sticking with a time-tested model as I think it's been open for 15 years, maybe longer? If I still lived in DC I probably would focus on more exciting and new restaurants, but Zaytinya is still as good as it's ever been.

It opened 22 years ago. I raised a kid from birth to adulthood in that span, and haven’t been to Zaytinya since before DC was born. I will have to go back now!

Barca in Old Town Alexandria. Everyone “loves” their tapas but basically they just put a mixture of honey, salt and butter on everything. Don’t get me wrong, that combo can be delicious in small doses but is sickeningly sweet when on literally everything.

Agree. I've never had a good meal there. Even if the food were salted appropriately, I don't think it would be very good.

Not a fan of Xiquet. Food was good, but portions were comically small, especially the signature paella.

Also think Two Amy’s is overrated.

I don’t like Two Amy’s. Burnt mediocre pizza is not good.

Don’t forget soggy!

This. We finally had it few years ago and had no idea what we were eating. Never went back.

Anita’s slipped after Anita died. They changed the refried beans and it hasn’t been the same since.

they declined when they stopped making the bread fresh in the restaurant. Same for Lebanese Taverna. It makes a huge difference.

Not sure which one you go to (am not a fan of one), but Moby Dick in Potomac Village is wonderful!

CarterQue BBQ in Mt. Airy. Worth the drive. Black raspberry bbq sauce is the best!

Came here to say this, but it was worse than meh to me. They couldn't even cook a steak medium-rare, it was straight up gray.

It's 2941 for me. I've tried multiple times, and I don't get it. I mean I get that it's good food. But there are plenty of other places I'd rather go for a special occasion, even though I'm in Falls Church which makes 2941 convenient.

Joe T Garcia's in the Fort Worth Stock Yards. Terrible food, only accepts cash and there is always a line waiting down the street to get in. Ppl go for the atmosphere but it's all just meh.

It's worth a trip for sure.

Tried for the first time recently. Flat bread and soup. Both very salty and meh. Told DH I'd skip that next time.
