that makes zero sense - even if Bey won the award, it make so sense that Jay Z or B would think this has any bit of affect on TS

Effect. Makes perfect sense. It’s directed right at swift who started out as a country artist then moved into mainstream pop and robbed Beyoncé of her glory.

NP. It doesn’t make sense. Also, Taylor and Beyoncé have been supporting each other at their respective movie openings.

TS has already won country album of the year. Bey making a country album is zero to TS — literally does not matter in any way.

Fearless beat out I am Sasha Fierce for Album of the Year the same year it also won Country Album of the Year, and songs from the album were also up for best Pop songs against Bey. Jay z’s comment about not being in the right category was directed at swift and his comments about race at the Grammys were a veiled way of saying, this country white lady keeps besting my wife. Now this is their way of saying you can win at pop? Well we can win at country. It may mean nothing to swift but it’s a blatant ploy to try to her Bey a country album award if she can’t win album of the year. Maybe even get her some country music awards too.

You make zero sense. TS has won every country and every pop award. Bey has won zero country or pop awards.

Since 1957 only 11 black artists have won album of the year. 11, in almost 70 years.

I’m pretending that racism isn’t a thing that has impacted virtually everything, but context matters.

How many black people were in the US in 1957 and the ensuing years? Hint: they comprised a very small percentage of american demographics but their numbers have obviously increased since then.

How many black singers were in the top spots and what percentage does that equate to?

If album of the year is a popularity contest, then it is what it is…and there have been far more white Americans than black Americans. Of course, those demographics are shifting.

I’m a lukewarm Beyoncé fan and I just cannot get into country music so not a good judge if this is any good. It certainly is brave to try another genre. Who has gone from pop/rock to country successfully? I know some have tried but successfully? Seems tough to pull off.

Are you suggesting Beyoncé is pop/rock?

NP. Beyoncé is absolutely pop. Tell me if Dua Lipa was singing covers of Beyoncé songs you would consider it anything other than pop music.

After skimming google, my takeaway is Beyoncé is a pop and R&B artist whose dance style and attire give off a hip hop vibe.

What are you talking about? The black percentage of the population has been remarkably stable — at about 12% — for many decades. Winning an annual prize in 11 of 70 years = 15%. Can anyone whining about representation here do math?

Well then a country album from a black artist to reach the majority white population would be exactly what a black artist needed to win.
Anything else could be demoralizing and pointless if you wanted to win as a black person- you never would because it is popularity run by white people.
So what does Taylor have to do with it?

Beyoncé has won 32 Grammys and not a single one has been in a pop category. (Making jay z’s argument).

Let me start by saying am a Rebe McIntyre. If Beyonce wants to go country then study the greats. I listen with an open mind by the (way am a Rebe McIntyre fan.) i listened to 16 Carriages. Folks her voice is unique, but it doesn't fit this agenda. The temp was to fast. The song didn't have a story! Her voice couldn't sing lower enough. The other song the one she doesn't have her clothes on. Country is much more conservative. I didn't like the other one at all. I agree why don't Jay-Z stop this quest for ambition and stop selling out his wife.

I think Beyonce songs should be played and the let the public decide if it's good enough to be deemed as country music. Refusing to play her songs on the radio is wrong.

PS - I think Jay Z is just a jerk. His tantrum at the grammys made him seem petty and jealous...not a good look for anyone...especially a man..
Let me be clear Jay-z is a jerk. The angry Black man isn't an issue.
Unless you are African American you couldn't relate of working hard and not getting your fair due. Decades we have been told to just be satisfied damn the fact it was unjust. I support what he said. I think it was fitting that he said it on that. Nothing happens if you speak up.Something is wrong. Here why she is kept in this box I don't know. You win 32 Grammy's but regardless of her album being number one it didn't matter. They didn't want her to have it so they gave it to Taylor Smith who didn't deserve that award period. When they gave the Grammy to Adele her speech was praising Beyonce's album Lemonade, and broke the Grammy in two and offered to her. I love Adele music. But I respect the fact she did speak up. I saw this on television. To matters worse Beyonce you have the number one album but not asked to perform?. Oh , and risk seeing Blue Ivy on the stage? Hell no! There's was no way they were going to the let the Carter family steel the show. They sent a strong message to the Carter family. I think it was personnel. Perhaps this time maybe their disdain for Jay-Z ambition. Maybe the show boating they do. I don't think this was solely about race, but race is a factor. Now for those who can't relate. We are women we work and do the same job as men. But we can't get equal pay? We are told to be satisfied where we are. I will never be satisfied of injustice. Regardless if it's moral issue or not. I am not satisfied. Now making a country album? Really so who do you think is behind that crap! She never gave herself a chance with any other man. Jay-Z loves his wife and family, but I don't think he knows the difference. When it comes to exploiting his wife. He's poison in her life. Maybe he's the reason. He took a classy young lady and turn into a half naked, trophy wife. Flaunting her like a cheap whore on the curve. Yes I said it! ( Look what I got). That's so ghetto! Now that I have expressed my disdain for Jay-Z. Let's dive into this country music whatever one word Hell No! Her voice doesn't work However refusing to play her music. Is a racist act that this damn world doesn't need. If it sucks then let the public decide. She have done what Lady GAGA did cleaned up her act and made ( I am not sure if they made an jazz album) with Tony Bennet I am done. Sorry folks.

Tell us what Try That In A Small Town is about. Did JA or Luke Bryan or Blake Shelton, etc etc ever “study the greats”?

She won a Grammy for best pop performance. The Grammys are probably like all other award shows where artists choose the category in which they compete. Beyonce probably picks the category most likely to result in a win, just like everyone else.

That’s a very weak argument to say she’s pop. One performance Grammy out of the 32 she’s won?

There’s so much mediocre in country that leaves plenty of room for Beyoncé’s talent.

If she has won 32 grammys then WTF are they complaining about. Two huge overblown egos that need to sit down.
