Has anyone gotten MCAP reports from 2023 testing?

Should I be concerned? Kid (8th grade) scores 275 on
Map-M and headed to a math magnet next year and then got only a "3" on mcap algebra - i think 85th percentile. Lack of concurrence is worrying.

I guess we will pay for review over the summer just in case MCAP is the actual "good" test?

Id be concerned. My kid who started at Blair magnet this year has higher scores on algebra MCAP and lower on MAP than you cite.

The scores aren't especially meaningful. The test has issues and the scores don't reflect much of anything.

And students dont even need to pass it for graduation. This is another of their "great" ideas to add more time wasting testing, and have district offices do admin level mailings.

The results weren't all that meaningful. Until they take the time work out the bugs I wouldn't pay much attention to this. It's too bad they can't use a proven national test instead of testing this new one on our kids.

Yet they are making students take the tests and will count for 20% of their second half grade.

My kid scored 240+/250 on both last year. They said it was super easy.

Meaning what? Out of 500?!!

The post states they scored a 240 out of 250. Not sure what you expect here.

Says 240 and 250.

New poster here, also with a kid headed to the math magnet next year with very similar MAP score to your kid's and a "3" on MCAP algebra. I'm not concerned. Did you see that only 1% of students who took the Algebra 1 MCAP last year scored a "4"?

Any who STILL haven't received their kid's reports? The school already announced test dates for THIS spring MCAP tests but no report still from spring 2023. Ridiculous MCPS.

Your child is fine. Show your child the MCAP report and ask her to explain it to your because your child has excellent math and statistics skills, unlike you have demonstrated.

Also, MCPS has no high school "math magnet", so your literacy skills are concern also. The closest merit-based magnet is a Science, Math, and Computer Science magnet.

Did your child take the Algebra MCAP in 2023?
If so, OP is fine since their kid has a whole extra year of math practice before 9th grade and after Algebra, vs yours.
If not, scores aren't comparable between years.

The minimum possible score is 650.

No you suspect wrong. Not everyone received reports. About to call an attorney at this point to investigate. And the media.

Haven’t received for my current 6th grader either. They are probably taking a while fudging the scores..

Or just are not going to return them in the hopes that we forget.
