I am PP. I looked it up. I'm just still looking for Cornellians that used it. Lol. |
Mine too. Bottomed out his GPA and limited his college choices now. I was concerned first quarter and reached out to the teacher. She thought he could do it. Hindsight… |
Surely, one bad grade in HS could not “bottom” a GPA. |
One bad grade can be the reason your kid doesn’t get into UVA. |
There could be any number of reasons your kid doesn’t get into UVA. But it is nice to have someone (the unfair teacher) to blame. |
Wrong. You like to tell yourselves that but acceptance is a composite thing, it’s the whole picture of the student. No student has ever been accepted or denied admission to UVA because of a single grade in a single AP class; that’s a coping mechanism people use to justify why they/their kid didn't get in when they believe others who are “less worthy” did. |
Kids who apply to UVA don't get Cs anymore. The world has changed from our day. The OP (and teachers like her) are holding on to some moral compass from another era where a few bad grades still get you into a top school. |
A 5 on the AP exam and a C in the class is not good grading for any AP class. |
It’s perfectly normal when you consider how many kids are smart enough to pass the final test but blow individual assignments all year long , don’t submit, etc. Coursework and the test are not one and the same. |
The kids who get 5s are not the ones who will blow off class tests and quizzes in my AP classes. |
