He was giving blanket advice, yes, and if I recall, he wasn't even referring to 25th percentile, which was newer advice for the current admission season. But, some advice commonly found here at DCUM was worse (don't submit a 1480, 1500, etc to top schools). |
Stop spamming. I looked so you don't have to. Nothing interesting. |
+1. There is often incorrect information about one school in particular, on DCUM. It seems to be sour grapes, but it is really taken to puzzling extremes, with over the top frequency. I am shocked it is allowed. |
Think there are more crackpots on DCUM. CC have folks that don't know how to Google or navigate a school's website then ask to most ridiculous questions. |
SkiEurope is a he, and I think you're correct he's never worked a real job ever. Here's a 2015 thread on Ivy Day when he was applying from prep school to college https://talk.collegeconfidential.com/t/sending-good-thoughts-to-skieurope-on-ivy-admissions-day/1690463 |
Thank you. They were pushy with that website! |
oh LOL. I thought he was a 55 year old man. But he's a 25 year old man. Wow |
With a strong interest in women's fashion. Is looking forward to having a baby. Respectfully, this person may be transitioning. |

Where did he go??? |
SkiEurope! We hardly knew ya! |
Andover/Penn |
THIS. The audacity of CC people giving unsolicited financial advice drive me away more than the tragic redesign. |
Kid got into Harvard ED but their dream is our local Community College. Which one would you choose for them, DCUM? I think they are *just* above average to average compared to their classmates at their Big 3. Their stats are: 5.6 weighted, 35 APs (all 5's), SAT 1600, three varsity sports, captain of the robotics team, editor in chief of the student newspaper, 4,567 service hours (towards a cause they LOVE and isn't typical - made for a great essay!), VERY SPIKY EC (so spiky it would poke you if you touched it), 16 national awards, congressional recommendation. Their father is very concerned and has already said he won't fund any college education that isn't a triple major Ivy League education. How can I bring them both back to center? |
Any discussion of donut hole families on DCUM brings minimum 10 pages of judgement and you should have made better life choices to afford 680K in college costs at a private college for two kids no matter the details of where you live, expenses, performance of investments, when you started making the salary. Even an inquiry of “how does”, “should I “ is soundly rebuked. Trying to figure out how cc is more hostile.
