SYC to GA

Anonymous
Why is a PP saying that everyone will leave SYC this year? I think that is said every year. Is this year different?
Anonymous
I think older girls from ASA will make the move to SYC- they stuck with Alexandria for this year because they were promised this new NL was the place to go and it has not been as advertised. Now with SYC and maybe VA Rev and GFR leaving- it will be a sad league.

ASA loses boys on the younger levels to SYC yearly. In a few years FCV/TSJ girls out of the st james will tryout as well. ASA has lost girls to Union because of the lack of competition as the years go on at ASA. SYC and ASA both have strong 2012 girls programs.

I can't see the older age groups trying out. They proved that they weren't good enough to play at that level.

According to their own website, the STJ path is STJ to FCV (GA). What would their competitive track become now that FCV (GA) coaches have left? Where will the competitive STJ players go at U13 now, if it's not to SYC?

Lmvsc to learn from state champion and ussf licensed coach LB.

lol

Trying to catch up...what is LB and BP stand for???

LB is the XD of LMVSC. Easily the best XD in the area and one of the best coaches. Totally has the USSF licenses she claims.

BP is the FCV's head of the Girl's academy.

We are considering GA and ECNL clubs for my 2012G - SYC, Union, and Arlington. Would appreciate the insight of those already in these leagues but travel burden would seem a big strike against GA. Except for the two Baltimore clubs, every GA road game will be 100+ mile drive:

GA Clubs (miles from Northern VA)
Baltimore Armour (Baltimore, MD) 48
Baltimore Celtic (Baltimore, MD) 48
Skyline Elite SC (Charlottesville, VA) 110
Sporting AC (Wilmington, DE) 118
PA Classics (Manheim, PA) 133
SJEB FC (Pitman, NJ) 141
Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals (Philadelphia, PA) 150
Real Jersey FC (Medford, NJ) 161
Keystone FC (Mechanicsburg, PA) 180
Century United FC (Pittsburgh, PA) / Beadling SC (Bridgeville, PA) 274

ECNL is no picnic either with 3 trips to North Carolina, but they do 2 games per trip, and you get those 4 games in town:

Arlington Soccer ECNL G11
VA Union ECNL G11
Fairfax BRAVE SC ENCL G11
VDA ECNL G11
NVA ECNL G11

Richmond United ECNL G11 103
Beach FC (VA) ECNL G11 203
NC Fusion ECNL G11 / NCFC Youth ECNL G11 349
Wilmington Hammerheads ECNL G11 / NC Courage ECNL G11 359
Charlotte Independence ECNL G11 / Charlotte SA ECNL G11 395

FWIW, GA Mid-Atlantic is split into a north and a south division. The south currently is FCV, Skyline, Celtic, Armour, Sporting DE, and Keystone. Those clubs each play each other twice and they play the north division clubs each once for league play. A total of 16 matches for the league season.

personally I think Arlington and McLean are still the better options- better schedule, tournaments and level of play.

Yeah, that GA South division is a joke!!!

The speech of nearby clubs to their members every year but each year SYC's numbers increase due to the departure of players from those same clubs. From what I have seen, SYC's second teams were historically not very strong but with the addition of MLSNext they have become stronger all across as more want a chance to move up. I would expect the same to happen on the girls side.

Does anyone think SYC will get GA if FCV keeps GA for fall? Seems unlikely if FCV doesn't have fields in Loudoun and moves closer in.

Makes sense to add SYC and possibly others to increase the south division. Possibly other clubs being added in MD.

GA is more likely to fold than for any new clubs to be added in MD, GA at SYC makes sense, to replace Metro in the area.
