It needs to be done at the system level for consistency. Determine the ONE method of communication from schools/teachers to parents. Doesn't matter if it's Gmail, Outlook, Synergy, Remind or something else but pick ONE and allow parents to master/understand the single form of communication.

Schools don’t need just one method but they do need consistency. Something to the effect of :
- Newsletters, reminders, announcements, supply list, etc,., will all be sent via Remind. Download app to your phone/computer and set notifications.

- Personal messages will be sent from/to school personnel Outlook because they are less frequent and personal. We will use the email address on file. We aim to reply in 24-48 hours. If emergency contact main office.

-All official documents like MAP results, report cards, etc will be in Synergy under Documents. These come out at very specific points in the year and we will let you know in newsletters or announcements when to be on the lookout.

There are not.

Source?

MCPS is big enough to negotiate; GoGuardian would listen.

My source is the BOE meeting from yesterday. I hope you’re right. Personally, I think it’s a huge mistake to get rid of goguardian.

Did the question of school specific licenses come up yesterday at the meeting?

Good question and I don’t recall that question coming up. They spoke about the school system as a whole.

If folks are concerned about this, write to the BOE, not to DCUM!

True, but if it were not for DCUM folks wouldn’t have been aware. And people like to hear it for themselves firsthand so it’s always good to go back to the original source.

You do realize the BOE meetings are aired live and recorded. Why is DCUM your source of awareness?

Correct. There needs to be a consistent structure and reason for each channel. Instead, it's a wild free-for-all with no rhyme or reason.

And that’s what needs to change. Yes teachers should have autonomy, but some things need to be standardized for scale, clarity, usability, and meaningful evaluation.
