| I’m good with remind an appreciate that it arrives in the language of the reader. They do need to have schools decide what communication medium they are using and then have everyone in the building do the same. |
It needs to be done at the system level for consistency. Determine the ONE method of communication from schools/teachers to parents. Doesn't matter if it's Gmail, Outlook, Synergy, Remind or something else but pick ONE and allow parents to master/understand the single form of communication. |
If folks are concerned about this, write to the BOE, not to DCUM! |
True, but if it were not for DCUM folks wouldn’t have been aware. And people like to hear it for themselves firsthand so it’s always good to go back to the original source. |

| I haven't watched the meeting but I am hearing some buzz about possibility of removing buses for magnet students. Is this true??? To use the money elsewhere? |
They want to drag out virtual academy's failure as long as they can. With federal funds gone, they need to get money from somewhere. |
Lynne Harris asked about the possibility of expanding the bus routes for magnets and other special programs. McKnight responded that there are already something like 500 magnet bus routes and it may not be sustainable to increase that number, and/or it could have to be decreased in the future if budgets were to tighten further. |
She was at the meeting I thought she was asked to leave her position as Sup? |
Yes, she was at the meeting. |
| How do they budget security for High schools? Any one know? |
Not nearly at the level needed to actually have safe and secure schools. |
Which groups have advocated for increase in school safety measures? Mccpta, mcea, school PTA, outside of the school groups, student groups? Asking sincerely I do not know. |
https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/siteassets/district/departments/budget/fy2025_recommendedbudget.pdf See Appendix C - 7: Security Team Leader: 1.0 FTE per school Security Assistant: 4.0 FTE per school, unless school factors warrant a lower or higher allocation. Additionally, each school is supported by a cluster security coordinator. School type, student enrollment, and square footage are the primary quantifiable factors in determining the allocation. In addition, serious incident data and special programs will be considered when allocating outside of the standard. |
