Geez, the amount that posters care about kids basketball is a bit concerning.

Basketball doesn’t have a long season and they have very limited gym time. So anytime they cancel is disappointing, especially since it’s now closed on a Saturday after the storm. Friday obviously made sense but most other businesses are open today. They already closed 2 weeks ago for what turned out to be nothing.

So far this year, my kid has had two games cancelled because of rain, one because of snow the day before and likely another because of snow two days before. Meanwhile all of our roads are totally clear

I think PP was referring to how much other people care about posters expressing disappointment. There is a bizarre animosity on this board toward anyone who is even remotely enthusiastic about sports. This area isn’t even close to over the top crazy compared to other parts of the country. I don’t get it. Why spend your time telling other people they don’t get to feel disappointed? Like who is the authority on disappointment? And when people post it is in fact the kids who are disappointed, they still don’t believe it. Maybe they just have apathetic kids who lay around?

We all can express ourselves. Why do you get to tell others their kids are apathetic and lazy. My kids are all athletes...yes there was disappointment and then it was done. As a family we didn't sit around talking about how terrible and unfair life is and how FCPS hates kids. Two of my kids are high school athletes and guess what they will be right back to two hour practices on Monday-Friday.

Sure, but what do the parking lots and sidewalks look like at the schools where your kid will be playing? The lack of critical thinking here is so exhausting.

It honestly doesn’t matter. The parking lots and sidewalks range from totally clear to covered in layers of ice and snow and everything in between. There’s only so much snow removal you can do in parking lots. Conditions are going to be all over the place. Just walk carefully and wait a few days for the warmer weather and rain to hit and wash it all away.
