Chances that school will be canceled tomorrow?

What kind of foul person posts stuff like this? So gross.

A lot of kids rely on the school for 1 or 2 meals a day. NP.

Yes and this person is mocking this fact.

Just ignore.

The make up snow day is June 20th!

Dont the build in a few snow days - I thought we only added on in June after 2 (or something) snow days?

Nope, not anymore. Any snow day is added on to the end of the year.

Well I was already planning on letting my 9th grader skip the 17th, I guess we will be skipping the 20th also!

No, light turquoise...Roughly 3 inches to cancel. Seems consistent with what this area does.

Who are you people whose husbands can problem-solve?! Where do you find husbands who can do this? Mine needs an engraved decision tree and even then will need a million texts for validation and direction on every single point.

I came here for news/insight into school delay, but predictably, we're arguing about someone's husband. Never change, DCUM.

That said, my DH can problem solve but doesn't, because he knows that if the just ignores a problem until it starts to actually impact our kids, I will step in and do something to keep them from getting screwed. I also know that if we mess up somehow, the school/teacher/fellow parents will all blame me for not having it together, and no one will care that it was actually my DH who dropped the ball.

And who cares if the blame you? You married a child and you enable the same child.

This is the example you are showing your kids.

My MIL divorced her husband in the 70s for this because as she loves to say she wasn’t showing her boys this was how to be a man. And she struggled, he barely paid child support and she and the boys (my DH) are happier for it. He’s a wonderful, fully participating husband and father.

No, DCPS was relatively fast … for DCPS. Usually DCPS bureaucracy waits until kids and parents already struggling on their way to school and then they cancel. That’s the typical DCPS M.O.

Omg this happened to me once- got the word from a note on the door at the school. That was epic 😂 in fairness, it was twenty years ago. Think they've improved a little
