Chances that school will be canceled tomorrow?

Who are you people whose husbands can problem-solve?! Where do you find husbands who can do this? Mine needs an engraved decision tree and even then will need a million texts for validation and direction on every single point.

There is no chance they’re open tomorrow.

Since when did DCPS do that? Of all the school systems in the region, DCPS is the least likely to close.

DP but it was like 4-5 years ago. It would supposed to be ice and it ended up just raining. I think that’s why they are so conservative now. They want to make sure it’s actually going to do whatever the forecast says

I came here for news/insight into school delay, but predictably, we're arguing about someone's husband. Never change, DCUM.

That said, my DH can problem solve but doesn't, because he knows that if the just ignores a problem until it starts to actually impact our kids, I will step in and do something to keep them from getting screwed. I also know that if we mess up somehow, the school/teacher/fellow parents will all blame me for not having it together, and no one will care that it was actually my DH who dropped the ball.

DC schools are always last to announce school closings due to snow. I’ve been in DC for so long and it hasn’t changed. I really wish it would.

Could you be any more condescending and unhelpful?

np: She has a point.

No, she doesn't. OP asked a question that was germane to her life, her circumstances and her need for information. She didn't ask for some judgmental woman to opine on her family or the division of labor within.

Maybe her husband doesn’t (gasp!) post on DCUM.

We should be thinking about the safety of the students and the teachers. What purpose will it serve, one day closing cannot definitely destroy academic progress.

Why haven't they called it yet?

BASIS DC closed tomorrow.

Last snow day was 1/7/22, over 2 years ago.

Definitely. That same winter we should've closed and Bowser didn't call it. I believe because of that day.
