Closing Early Today?

Anonymous
Our K-8 opted to close early mid-afternoon. But they also reiterated that all kids will be safe and cared for until parents can get there. It felt like a nice compromise and acknowledgement that this was a curveball for caregivers.

No, it doesn't. Cite or STFU.

You either don’t live here or don’t own a cell phone.

Cope more.

Yes, you ought to learn that skill.

You lost the argument and had to resort to name calling. Keep crying.

Really? I didn’t see a single accident on the beltway or in town. Enough with the weather hysteria. Regain calm and carry on.

You’ve got a screw loose. I didn’t call anybody names I’m not part of this back-and-forth, but you are clearly in need of counseling. You’re immature, emotionally stunted, annoying, shrill, and tiresome.

You don’t recognize sarcasm and it shows…

Insults are your only move. How pathetic and sad.

What a bunch of bed wetters. Always looking for any excuse to close. Covid, wind, a little rain. DMV — what a decaying, pathetic area.

Meanwhile, our town has flooded streets, downed trees, and power outages (in MD). Perhaps that doesn’t impact you, but there are other people in the region.

Count your blessings that it didn’t hit you as hard as others.

Wow this thread is nasty.

I'm in Bethesda, where my basement is dry for now, there is no wind to speak of, but tons of rain that's turning my yard into a pool.

Meanwhile, there are blocked roads and downed power lines elsewhere, the Bay Bridge registered an 80mph gust and it's not safe driving out there.

Perhaps MCPS and FCPS could have dismissed at the regular time. The important thing was to cancel all evening activities, though. Our horse center in Brookeville decided to remain open, I suppose they calculated that the few students who would make the drive could be counted on one hand and would have their lessons in the small indoor barn.

But weather closures, unless they give rise to school-related injuries, really don't warrant trading insults like this. Even my middle schooler knows better than to engage in that way.
