Other than his Judaism he is your basic privileged rich white guy who thinks he is smarter than everyone else and that the world should revolve around him. It's only a matter of time before he runs for office as Trunp 2.0.

He is white, male, and rich, what does his religion have to do with his obnoxious stance?

PP might be saying that the only constancy he has shown is toward his faith? Otherwise he is scattershot all over the place. Stomping around snatching companies from people, punching down at non-billionaires. Your basic bully.

It doesn't really matter what anyone else did. It matters what she did.

So being a racist bully is less bad than plagiarism? Your priorities are wacked.

My point obviously is that he uses his status in a minority religion as a convenient cudgel and to justify his behavior.

This is my take as well. He reminds me of Elon Musk and other billionaires with large social media followings whose egos are proportional to their vast wealth and who like to throw their weight around and wade into social and political issues. One wonders what their endgame is. More money and power or the White House as you suggested?

At least with Elon what you see is what you get, there is no virtue signaling hypocrisy with Elon, unlike Billy.

I would say if she was in a position of academic power like Gay, she should resign. But there is nothing for her to resign from. And of course if she is asked to somehow revoke her MIT thesis, that same standard needs to be applied to Gay, which would then require Gay to give up her large salary and cushy teaching job.

Gay is keeping the large salary and cushy teaching job likely because its in the Harvard Corporation's best interest (and cheaper than the alternative) to keep her happy. It is also likely a provision in her employment contract.

Executives pre-negotiate golden parachutes for themselves. That's how the real world works.

Ah no. She is a tenured professor, so that is why she stays. Don't speak unless you understand.

Which, while problematic, is completely different from the Harvard President. Indeed, if that’s all they happened, it just shows how egregious the Harvard president’s plagiarism was.

And she apologized *immediately,* rather than obfuscating and denying and blaming the accusations on "racism" or whatever -ism of the day is fashionable.

Harvard should fire Gay and make Ackman's wife an offer to become a tenured Prof. It is clear who cares about academic integrity and veritas, and who just doesn't.

You can’t just fire a tenured professor, dum-dum. And you’re saying a plagiarist cares about “academic integrity”?

But there's more...

Neri Oxman copied whole paragraphs from WIKIPEDIA in her doctoral thesis (I don't know about your kids, but mine have been taught from an early age to NOT use Wikipedia as a source, much less pass it off as your own work).

And then MIT made her a tenured professor. Seems like a problem.

A couple of examples from the new article:

This is comical at this point, Wikipedia? She and Ackman are obviously grifters and as much of a joke as Gay, if not more. Those in glass houses should not throw stones.

Ackman isn't just throwing stones, he's weaponizing the threat of outing academic plagiarists in service of his broader goals. It's much more sinister than it appears.

No. This is all about Bill imposing his will on others. He would do the same in Israel except hardball there us way harder than it is here.
