13 MoCo high schools decline in state rankings

For those who couldn’t get in, it just feels like a sinking ship. If you think MCPS is stellar, that’s great, we could always agree to disagree.

There was an AMAZING opinion piece in WaPo a while back that basically said "Ignore the doomsayers about public schools. My two kids got a world class education at Blair SMACS".

It's interesting that this is already a 5 pages thread about "13 MCPS HS decline in state rankings " because of absenteeism, but there was no thread about the 20 MCPS HS that made the AP honor roll not too long ago.
I guess that doesn't fit the narrative.

Yes there was a thread

No, there was not a thread discussing it. It was a poster asking why BCC was not in the list, initially. It was barely a 2 pages thread.

In other words, yes there was a thread.

If that thread didn't meet your needs, go ahead and start one of your own.

In the US, normal people send their children to public school. Which country are you posting from?

Kennedy, is pretty UNDIVERSE. It's 60+% Hispanic, 30% black and a smattering of Asian and white. You can peek at the school profile and see the scores to that it's not doing great.

You probably mean "majority-white/Asian" schools are doing great, which is true, somewhat. At least when it comes to test scores, graduation rate, etc.

The schools that serve higher poverty areas are declining! Imagine that.

No certain areas are declining, the schools mirror that.

Yes it corresponds with poverty and changes in demographics.

Six pages and no one will identify the 13 schools

If you have time, you can sort through the report cards and figure it out, then post it here for discussion. That’s basically what you’re asking somebody else to do.

Lol. Everyone knows that the ultimate in diversity would include NO white people. So Kennedy is almost there.

Wrong, optimal diversity should reflect the county's demographics. If a school, contains just one or two groups it isn't great.
