So does anyone know which 13 schools the article refers to? I can’t believe there are five pages of discussion but no info on the entire premise of the article.

For now. Only a matter of time until they start bussing in poverty for equity purposes.

I (MCPS teacher) and about half my personal teacher friends send our kids to private. Personally we go to a small neighborhood Catholic school. As a teacher I know what is missing (if anything) so I can supplement. my sister is also a teacher in another state and she does the same.

My 2023 grad got a fantastic education through the ES/MS/HS magnets. At least the HS is still in tact.

People with kids who are in the so-called W schools or kids who went through ES CM & CES/MS magnet/HS magnet will think their kids received great educations. There’s not enough spot for those seats and nowadays impossible to get in.

For those who couldn’t get in, it just feels like a sinking ship. If you think MCPS is stellar, that’s great, we could always agree to disagree.

This is untrue. Back in 2018 they definitely did not alter the boundary policy to make diversity a lot more important than it was previously and definitely didn't order a boundary study that definitely wasn't designed to usher in diversity busing.

It's interesting that this is already a 5 pages thread about "13 MCPS HS decline in state rankings " because of absenteeism, but there was no thread about the 20 MCPS HS that made the AP honor roll not too long ago.
I guess that doesn't fit the narrative.
