If these rankings are based on the MCAP I wouldn't assign them much value. The test is still very new and so far hasn't proven reliable.

Agree with previous posts re Asian and white students still at typical levels. The demos and their performances are changing the ratings.

Quick note as fyi:

Around the time these ratings came out, Winston Churchill stepped up “hall sweeps” to get absenteeism back to previous levels. That aspect alone if paid attention to would have kept them at five stars. I found that interesting.

Also keep in mind MCPS grading. If your kid has an A in the first quarter and can manage a B in second quarter then is missing a day or two a big deal?

My student is a senior and has made it through relatively unscathed aside from needing more sleep, but glad to be moving on.
