| All I can say it the WH ornament this year is gorgeous! |
No one under the age of 85 likes tap dancing. It doesn’t matter what color the tap dancing people are. |
Tell me you’re white without telling me. You know what means step? |
|
This is like all of the nightmare scenarios and day dreaming skits from A Christmas Story.
What a bizarre video. |
| Because Jill Biden invited people of color and queers to dance joyously in the White House, at Christmas, some are triggered. |
Oh, please. Those who don't care for the video don't care WHO is in the dance scene. It is about taking a traditional Christmas story and making it "modern" that is unappealing to many. The left loves to try to "modernize" traditional stories and movies. And, they almost always fail. |
You are incorrect. Take a look at Instagram...filled with tappers. People love them! |
My niece is minoring in tap in college. It’s really popular again. You probably also think mom jeans are only for old people? I liked it but wanted to like it a little more. I would have loved a jazz version of the original music and some more of the really fancy footwork tap—it was probably hard staging around the White House and I’m sure they didn’t get a lot of time to get used to the space though. And the camera work was weird — it cut off the view of the feet too often. Someone upthread made a mocking comment about Fred and ginger — but they were phenomenal dancers and those cameramen really know how to frame a dance (gene kelly too). Or Look at Gregory Hines in white nights —if you’re filming dance you want to see the bodies. But the decorations are niice. |
LMAO you idiots can't even make up your minds about what it is. Above you cluelessly whine about how nobody under the age of 85 likes tap dance and now you whine about how it's too modern for your liking 😆😆😆😆 This is why you people look completely ridiculous tripping over yourselves trying to criticize this video. Sorry, but nobody here takes you seriously. How about just shut up and go back to your knitting. |
Good grief, Skippy. One person believes tap dance is no longer relevant. That person is wrong. And, contrary to what you think.... this was indeed an effort to modernize a traditional story. And, IMO - it failed. It was weird and creepy. |
| The performance and video are cute and fun, not the best thing ever but enjoyable to watch. The fact that this innocuous performance is triggering conservatives, like Laura Ingraham and Stephen Miller, makes me enjoy it even more. |
No, good grief to YOU. SO WHAT if it was "modernized." People have been "modernizing" stories for millennia. Maybe you didn't know that the whole Biblical "Great Flood / Noah's Ark" was a modernized rehash of part of the Gilgamesh epic, written far earlier? Which in turn was probably a rehash of something even older? And unlike the Bible it's not even as though this WH video is being touted as "this is the new Official Nutcracker." It's just yet another spin like the hundred other versions of The Nutcracker that have been done since 1892. Who cares. And, the only thing I see here that's weird and creepy is your continued weird and creepy attempts at over-the-top failed critiques of a cute video. |
Hadn't figured Stephen Miller and these other mouth breathing right wing troglodytes to be such connoisseurs and critics of dance, but whatever, man
|
It was directed by someone who snatched the remaining coke at the White House. I agree, the overall feeling is unsettling. |
I'm 50 and I love tap dancing. You probably think 50 and 85 are the same age. |
