CogAT scores are here!

We had the opposite, my kid was sick during the CogAt and got a 118 but his NNAT was higher, 130. We’ll see what happens. I won’t get my hopes up. He does seem to be fairly well liked by the teachers and our ES and pyramid are not one of the most competitive ones.

This is PP. I’m honestly on the fence of if he NEEDS full time AAP. He’s on, I would say, high grade level or maybe 1 grade ahead in reading, but struggles to express himself in writing. But overall on/a little around grade level there and not bored.

But the math situation at his school is not good. I don’t know if it’s like this everywhere but his current math work appears to be “putting 3 digit numbers in order from smallest to largest” and vice versa. He’s desperate for more advanced work, and his teacher already has him doing more and slightly more advanced work during class but it’s still pretty basic. And I don’t want to start too much with him at home because then he’ll be really, REALLY far ahead in just a short period of time. I attempted to convey all this in his referral forms and I’m sure his teacher also will mention it, so we will see how it turns out.

We haven't received DC's CogAT scores. But an email for being referred to be screened just arrived. Does this mean DC's score is not too bad?

You know that’s what it means.

I have the same question. DD had an NNAT score between 135-140. No CogAT yet. Does that mean she scored well on the CogAT? (we're in a hyper competitive school pyramid)

If you got the email the. Her score was competitive and she made the top 10% of her class as it relates to those exams

Not necessarily. You only need to be in top percentile in one or the other.

^^I don’t think that’s how it works anymore. The blended has to be in the top x percentile.

Is it done by pyramid or individual school? The FCPS web site uses the term “buildings” which presumably means the same elementary school?

I Think it’s the school

Just got in pool with 105 NNAT. No CogAT score yet but would have to be extreme if they're blended.

It would be nice to know how your child did. Good job

My child got a 132 NNAT and 132 COGAT but we're in a high SES school, so my Indian-American kid who would probably get in at a Title I school won't get in at an Oakton pyramid school. This new system that's supposedly about equity is extremely unfair to Asian American families.

And no, my child did not prep at all for either test other than the practice questions they did in school. So that makes it double unfair.
