No, for real. It sounds exhausting to be about having these intrusive judgy thoughts. Rest up. |
NP. It’s apt. |
I think it’s odd that people are so focused on alcohol.
We gather as a community. Some people drink some don’t. Nobody is so drunk they can’t respond to a child being hurt. It’s a fun night, the kids want to ToT with friends, people walk together it’s a social night. |
I did last year (I carried around a Yeti w/ beer in it while ToTing w/ my kids) and don't plan to this year. It is kind of fun to walk around the neighborhood at night w/ all the people out w/ an open container and get a little tipsy--it's a festive feeling. However, I have been drinking too much lately and the holiday season is typically when my drinking really ramps up and I am determined not to let that happen this year. I want to just be fully present and sober for the holidays (including Halloween) this year. I don't think my kids even noticed my drinking while ToTing last year but at some point they might notice and wonder why mom was always drinking while doing fun activities w/ them so I don't want them to have that memory. |
Because whether you have a glass of wine during the event or immediately after is the SAME THING. |
You must not be from New Orleans! |
I mean, this is not correct. I sometimes have a glass of wine when I get home from work. This is not the same thing as having a glass of wine at my desk at work. |
Sorry, I was trying to respond to the Southerner who said drinking wasn’t in their culture. |
But you still have to parent after trick or treating. |
Not really. Once my kids are in bed, my parenting duties are pretty minimal. Certainly more minimal than they are while out trick or treating. |
This. OP is loving their troll post. For some people, including my family, Halloween is a community event. People do a variety of things. Who cares? |
No, I don't need a drink that badly, or to turn every kids' event into a parent party. Sitting around a firepit on any other cool fall night, sure.
|
+1 |
Heck yes |
Not really. There could still be an emergency. Sickness. A fire. Some reason you’d need to drive. My point is that a drink or two over the course of an evening does not impair most adults to the point where they cannot perform basic parenting tasks. Including while walking around outside. |
