Well, you’re in luck, I suppose, because DC doesn’t incarcerate anyone. People arrested for murder in DC have *on average* been arrested 11 times previously. Maybe if they had been incarcerated one of those previous 11 times, the person they later murdered would still be alive. |
He’s definitely not anti crime. Quite the opposite. We’ve seen enough already. Between his support for the voucher program to the way he had to be pushed into supporting the emergency crime legislation to the way he’s never present at any of the violent crime scenes (but never misses a bike lane event). His disinterest is dangerous. |
At what point does one become a professional politician or is it wannabe to professional, with no space to be an elected official? |
People who aren’t funny shouldn’t try. |
| +3. Just maxed out to her campaign too. It's time we have a council member in W4 who takes initiative on the public safety in our community. |

Hi all! It’s Lisa Gore and thank you for the discussion on this thread! I’m so excited about my run and NO - I was not encouraged to run by anyone other than my many neighbors in Hawthorne and Brightwood and a few in Riggs LaSalle! I promise you they are real people, everyday neighbors!
I do not want to stop your open discussions about this race or me, but I do want you to have access to me and get to know me first hand. I have quite the story including raising my son here - he was born at 24 weeks and only 1.5lbs. We went through tough, tough times. If you saw my At Large race you saw him with me every step of the way. He’s now a second year college student at LaSalle in Philly! It can be done! And yes, I have an extensive LEO career. I started right here in DC as a juvenile, Bilingual Probation Officer. I was one of DC’s first bilingual (Spanish) POs in juvenile supervision. I worked in this role for 5yrs. I transitioned to US Customs as a Special Agent in San Juan, PR and then to the IG’s Office, HUD where I retired as a senior manager. I’ve done it all in this arena, white collar and violent crime, and delivery of services to juvenile offenders. I was a law enforcement instructor and National Use of Force Coordinator. I retired during COVID to spend time with my son - finally! I immediately jumped into community service and ran for ANC. I’m serving my second term in 3/4G where I am currently Chair. This role has brought me back to my community service roots and even though I’m in 3/4G, I get calls from all across the Ward. And I answer! Please continue with your discussions! I won’t lurk. I wanted to share some of my background and let you all know how to contact me directly if you every have questions about my campaign or need to verify information. I have the same number and email I used in the AL race, 202- 697-7056, info@gorefordc and my website is GorforDC.com. I certainly have a lot of ideas and we will be releasing our platform soon, but job #1 is serving constituents. That must be front and center. Thanks! Lisa R. Gore, Candidate, Ward 4 Council |
Thank you, Lisa. I can't wait to vote for you and usher in some much-needed sanity to the Council. Godspeed! |
That is crazy. I can’t believe she said that. Her and Bowser seem on opposite sides. |
Maybe she didn't? It seems like what a conservative would like to think she said. |
Yes. |
It was in the Washington Post. |
Would you mind sharing that, so we could see it in its appropriate context? |
"The D.C. mayor’s legislative proposal that would impose new penalties for gun crimes and make it easier to detain some youths awaiting trial encountered fierce resistance at a council hearing Tuesday, even as the city’s top federal prosecutor and a host of residents said the bill would help reduce violent crime in the nation’s capital. D.C. Council member Janeese Lewis George (D-Ward 4) said the proposed legislation would be “incredibly traumatizing” to children." https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2023/06/27/bowser-crime-bill-dc-council-opposition/?pwapi_token=eyJ0eXAiOiJKV1QiLCJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJzdWJpZCI6IjQ3NTcwMjIzIiwicmVhc29uIjoiZ2lmdCIsIm5iZiI6MTY4NzkyNDgwMCwiaXNzIjoic3Vic2NyaXB0aW9ucyIsImV4cCI6MTY4OTIyMDc5OSwiaWF0IjoxNjg3OTI0ODAwLCJqdGkiOiI2NzlkMDMyZS00OGI4LTQ1YWMtOWUzNS1jM2MyYzc0ODliMDAiLCJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL3d3dy53YXNoaW5ndG9ucG9zdC5jb20vZGMtbWQtdmEvMjAyMy8wNi8yNy9ib3dzZXItY3JpbWUtYmlsbC1kYy1jb3VuY2lsLW9wcG9zaXRpb24vIn0.kUhx36eYTFHxyiPfFMH4x29aObX0_ums1PQD7q3lKfI |
Thanks for sharing. I do agree with her statement. I would love our Council and Mayor's office to be seeking alternative placements other than prison for children who are awaiting trial. I agree that for many of these kids, going back to their house is not the best option. |
Janeese Lewis George gets angrier about legislative proposals to crack down on crime than she does actual crime. |
