You mean "primarily being opened to alleviate overcrowding at both WJ and the DCC" |
This. But now with Whitman and BCC thrown in for good measure. |
The MCPS planning documents focused on DCC overcrowding with WJ as a secondary priority. |
Whitman is not being considered as part of the boundary study as far as I know. The BCC cluster is being included because MCPS is planning to build a new ES near the BCC YMCA (actually convert the former Lycee Rochambeau campus which is MCPS owned) with the purpose to use it to alleviate ES overcrowding in both WJ and BCC clusters. It will have a split articulation. |
Now you know. https://gis.mcpsmd.org/boundarystudypdfs/WoodwardHS_BoundaryStudyScope.pdf |
False. There was a WJ Roundtable group that was looking at Woodward reopening first, then Jack Smith added the DCC schools into the mix because they were reasonably nearby and also had space deficits. https://go.boarddocs.com/mabe/mcpsmd/Board.nsf/files/AFTTCV76C5AB/$file/Supp%20B%20Walter%20Johnson%20Cluster%20Schools%20Rev.pdf |
WJ is second the sentence "To address these urgent space needs in the Downcounty Consortium and Walter Johnson High School..." Does that make it a secondary priority? I guess somebody could infer that, if they were already highly motivated to do so, and they also ignored the fact that the space need at Walter Johnson High School is the biggest by a lot (768 seat deficit). https://gis.mcpsmd.org/boundarystudypdfs/WoodwardHS_BoundaryStudyScope.pdf https://gis.mcpsmd.org/boundarystudypdfs/WoodwardHS_BoundaryStudyScope.pdf |
None of this has been determined, or funded yet. There was a site selection study done, but no site was chosen. https://go.boarddocs.com/mabe/mcpsmd/Board.nsf/files/BMNJWF4F2858/$file/FY2020%20Cap%20Bdgt%20FY2021-2026%20CIP%20Amendments%20200312%20PPT.pdf |
