Perhaps you should park further out? I see you in the “compact” spaces. Our parking garage at work is a mess with suvs, trucks, and long sedans. It’s not built for those. Get a commuter car. |
If you don't want to wait for me to back in (and it only takes me 1 try), then you're definitely not going to wait for me to back out. The difference is that I can see when I pull out of the space and can avoid you. |
Because they are bad drivers. Look at all the respondents saying it is easier to back in!
It's fine IMO in a big lot, like a BEST BUY in the burbs. But closer into the city in smaller cramped lots it's just selfish and inconsiderate. We're stuck behind you as stare in your rearview camera going in and out trying to get it right. Good luck to any pedestrian trying to pass b/c you are starting at your camera and not at what is right in front of you! |
They all think they’re action stars. |
Pull in drivers always take longer to adjust after they pull in. I can pass behind, find a space, back in, and get out, start heading into the store and see them still adjusting pulling back out and back in. |
Lol. You’re projecting. If you practice, you can learn to easily back into spots. |
Huh? Backing in is most beneficial in a tight lot. I don’t want to be backing out with low visibility in a tight and crowded lot. I don’t care in a suburban strip mall. |
Exactly and I don’t need my cameras. I use my mirrors and back in in one try and am completely centered and straight. That’s in stark contrast to the many cars who pull in crooked and right on the line. |
Op here.
Interesting. My observation is that the dcum drivers are not in the parking lots I frequent. I have never once seen anyone back in in one try. Not once. Also not sure the safety argument makes much sense; a pedestrian (especially a small running child) could still try to nip across the space before you back into it. There’s generally time. When I leave I back out slowly, which has been safe so far. But I don’t drive a giant car or truck. |
I back in because I am a person who likes to work before play I guess, so this makes it easier to leave than to park. But I am great at backing in and need to correct maybe once every 30 times. I honestly find it more difficult to pull in front-ways sometimes, because there is no camera!

Because men think we should always wait for them. |
You have much better visibility when you are in the lane, not the spot. Try it. It makes more sense when you do it. |
Sexist. |
Think of Christmas Eve service at church--people arrive in a 30-45 minute window. They all leave in a 5-8 minute window. The time for backing up is when the density is distributed (before) rather than after. |
Because they are living their truth.
Why should it bother you? You and your headfirst ways need to adapt. |
