Board games and comic book club/conventions if you’re into nerds (I married one).
Running clubs didn’t work for me but a friend met her husband in one. Mostly I picked up guys in bars. Not very original, I know. I am really outdoorsy and maybe should have tried biking, hiking, or camping clubs but it seemed dorky and I liked doing my own thing. Sometimes I wish I’d married a guy who shared my hobbies because my husband got even more sedentary after we had kids. |
Guy here, and after six pages I haven’t seen anything where I’d have been found. How about volunteer activities? Help out in your community! That’s where I am and plenty of other guys. |
Sports. I became an F1 fan after watching Drive to Survive and when I go to watch races at local bars, it’s a sausage party. I recommend F1 specifically because it attracts nerds and Europeans.
Poker Alcohol. but this is tricky. Personally, I filter out any guy who says his “hobby” is essentially drinking—if they claim their hobby is craft beer, whiskey (or if they’re extra obnoxious, “wisky”), wine, etc. It’s not that I think they’re all alcoholics, it’s just that I think it’s embarrassing to sit around pretending that it’s intellectual to gulp fermented shit and then say “yum yum taste good me like, you not like so you beta, etc. etc.”. If you don’t think it’s problematic, there are many, MANY guys into this. Video games. Different games attract different types and I won’t pretend like I have any idea about how this maps. But “gamer girls” are a HUGE thing. And some games are social so they lend themselves to meeting and bonding with new people. I don’t know if you have to actually be good. You definitely have to be willing to take a lot of sexual harassment, “nice guy” fedora types, and incels. But normal guys play games too. Watches/ watch collecting. Republican politics. The male/female ration of every Republican campaign office I’ve been in was about 5:1. |
I’ve developed some “guy” hobbies.
Not to attract men but because the hobbies interest me but there are usually men adjacent. Golf and going to driving range; watching football or basketball games at upscale sports bars (usually with friends); shooting range; kayaking and sailing (rec and lessons). |
Sailing - you can join a club and offer to crew on day sails out of Annapolis.
it works! |
Volunteer fire/EMS, auxiliary/reserve police or sheriff's deputy. Many more men than women in both the volunteer and the paid populations, and you get to do something meaningful. |
I have male family members who are in the EMS/Fire service, and while I love them, I have to say that the typical firehouse is a toxic, misogynist, racist, conservative political dumpster fire. Fox News is on 24/7 in the lounge and even nice guys who enter this service are eventually influenced negatively by the toxic environment. I have met many of their EMS friends, and I would say 10% are not toxic and normal guys I would date, and only then the younger ones. By the time they are in their 50s, the toxic environment has had a long influence. TBH, also a good percentage of these guys are not very smart. Foe some women, that may not matter. |
This is stereotyping. Cultures vary. You could probably say the same of many blue-collar occupations. These specific occupations tend towards the blue collar, but in recent decades more and more applicants present with higher educational credentials. As with all careers, some people are ambitious and develop or have the credentials to advance professionally, while others are content to remain at the journeyman level. The former typically possess higher levels of education than the latter, but there may be suitable potential partners in either group. And, the volunteer cadres are often better educated and more sophisticated; their primary careers are often white-collar. |
Well you go to places like this. Very social in the evening- drink and dinner. www.tflats.com/ www.kamalame.com/ https://mangocreeklodge.com/ |
Why do women need hobbies that attract men? Just get/stay fit and pick which men you want to date out of the line that forms. |
