Is something wrong with Mitch McConnell?

Anonymous
Some of us probably have family members in their 70s-80s, and even the “good” ones, with manageable chronic health conditions and no major issues usually should not be in charge of much.

I knew a 96 year old woman whose mental faculties were completely intact. She had not one deficiency in that area. She had broken her hip and her mobility was limited, and she had a colostomy bag as well. She passed away after she had been in her yard trying to cut a tree limb and woke up with another broken hip. It was sad, but our bodies don’t live forever.

I find it impossible to believe these elderly people are actually running our government and lives. It’s ridiculous and wrong.

The current GOP candidate for KY Gov is married to McConnell’s niece. He’s trying to hold on for dear life until his relative is elected.

Really though, now with Fetterman in from PA- how can any elected official be asked/told to step down for health reasons? We are told it’s discriminatory and ableist.

This.
At least McConnell's comments are coherent.

No he has not been coherent for years.

At least Fetterman's platform, positions, and voting record are sane, coherent, humane, ethical, and serve the greater good of the nation. Can't say the same for McConnell's.

Wow, that’s some shady sh#t. Changing Long standing rule.

I guess it would be fair play if the Governor decided to not appoint anyone and wait for the special election.

If the electorate chooses you, that is it. In theory, there is a mechanism for action to a replace a representative of needed, but it does not exist in reality. Just look at George Santos. That guy plants his flabby butt in that chair in the capital and collects a pay check and Congress does about it.

Does nothing about it.*

there should be no one in position of power over 65

everyone is old

Mitch is dying
Biden is dying
Pelosi is dying
Trump is dying

Once the boomers pass on, at least the younger generation will finally elect young individuals...god willing

And institute term limits for the Supreme Court. It's silly that presidents are incentivized to appoint young judges so they can serve longer.

65 is way too young! I’m not a fan of these old geezers holding on but until recently, younger people didn’t go into
Govt and this there was a lean bench. That’s changing and the Dem party will look a whole lot younger in 6 years (as much as I hate to admit the GOP is much better on this).

If you don’t like old people being in power, run for office yourself.

how in the world is 65 too young?

The avg CEO is in their 50s.

Max SS is age 70, the avg person lives to around 80-82

The leaders of the free world should be in peak physical and mental shape -- which for 99% of people is NOT in their late 60s.

I would run for office in my early 50s once i retire from my business.

What is up with that?

This could turn out to be choice that backfires completely if he does not get the care he needs.

I just watched the video. Seizure, stroke, whatever’s going on with him, I truly hope that someone cares about him enough to get him to a hospital. Then I hope he immediately goes all in for universal healthcare, and promptly retires.

Medicare IS universal health care. For seniors.

I’m not sure what point you think you’re making here? Even for seniors Medicare isn’t universal. If you or a spouse (meeting certain criteria) don’t have adequate work credits, you don’t qualify. Medicare and Social Security were deliberately crafted to exclude the types of jobs then typically held by POC. And healthcare for seniors is great — for those who make it that far.
