Is there any chart showing what the scores mean? |
Yes. On the top right of the score report there is a bar graph showing your child's score relative to the minimum and maximum. |
I wish it also told how many questions they missed. So like if my kid has two "X" does that mean he missed two questions. Or is there zero correlation and that just means he missed all questions in that category? Or a certain number of questions in that category.
Anyway, it doesn't matter I am just curious and have zero idea how many questions are on the AOL or how much each question is worth. |
*SOL |
When will the state release statewide and school-specific averages? |
The SOLs are adaptive so there is not one set of questions that everyone answers. If a student misses some questions, they will be given easier ones which are not weighted as highly. So two students could miss the same number of questions but get different scores depending on whether they answered harder or easier questions. |
Usually happens in mid-August |
They're out! |
If two kids both get all questions correct would they have the same questions? |
so what was the point of waiting until the end of July then? Somebody here said they were waiting for state averages. eyeroll all the way on aps. |
I’m pretty sure that each X or checkmark represent one question. |
Last year someone said that Virginia is validating the questions and that sometimes a question may get thrown out. This can impact the scores. So we have to wait for validation of the scores before APS will release the data. |
Fairfax is also in Virginia. Why do they post results in mid-June? |
So was one of the people stressing about SOL scores the poster asking about how SOL scores affect private school admissions? |
