Oh come on. People aren't being dramatic. They're just annoyed that any effort was spent posting a totally useless and out of date document to ParentVue on the day that everyone was expected to receive actual SOL scores. Even if it cause no actual harm, it demonstrates pretty significant incompetence by the APS administration. |
Does anyone know who we would even contact to ask about when scores would be posted. Our principal didn't have information. |
DP. You are proving PP’s point. |
Youngkin’s office? |
They probably don’t want to waste the effort because it’s not that important. Was this the first year your kid took an SOL? |
Last year and I believe in years past they sent out an email that said something like "FYI your kids' scores will appear in parentvue on these dates." Parents are curious and I don't see why the county can't just communicate a bit with us. I don't actually care that much what they are (probably like you) but I do get why other parents care. I think a lot of parents are still worried about pandemic learning loss. Also I have gotten scores for my rising 9th grader's writing SOL and my rising 6th grader's math SOL (not the report, just the score). So they have got the scores but they are just sitting on them and it's weird to me that they haven't even said when we will get them like in years past. |
Ha, surely there is someone in APS to contact first. I have zero desire to contact his office. Reading the website it said resources for interpreting scores would be available no sooner than July 7 because they were based on spring scores. So I assume they were supposed to release them already and haven't for whatever reason. https://www.doe.virginia.gov/teaching-learning-assessment/student-assessment/parent-caregiver-resources-for-growth-assessments There is a new VA assessment parent portal where the state posts this stuff apparently. I don't remember our school mentioning (maybe because we have parent vue so it's redundant?) But you need some kind of claim code that you get from the school. |
I believe they said that scores will be released in July. Apparently that means the very, very last day of July. |
Use his tip line? ![]() |
If there was a hiccup that caused a delay (new test, new portal, etc) I don’t think it’s worth it to have them send out an extra email. Especially if they don’t know if it will be another day or two or weeks. We already get so many email messages. I appreciate them culling down to only important stuff. |
this is a good point, I also don't understand this caginess about results. just post them already |
are they waiting for Monday, July 31? Ugh, stressful experience all around. First the test and then the waiting. Way to go, FCPS. |
Why stressful? |
I don’t understand why APS doesn’t send score reports home with kids on the last day of school like FCPS and ACPS does. |
It's posted on ParentVUE now. |
