I was trying to remember but could not. Just know it is sometime over the summer. My kid is curious about one of his scores. |
I came here to ask this exact question! I had heard July, but just checked and it's not up. What is the hold up?! I don't understand.
My oldest is a rising 4th grader, so we've never done this rodeo before. |
OP here: I think we get a letter in the mail too (from what I remember) but I also can't remember when that comes either.
|
If they haven't reached out, your child has passed. That's really all you need to know. Just relax your kid is in 4th grade. It will be posted before 5th grade. |
Yes I do realize that. But I don’t get why they hold the scores. FCPS posts them before the end of the year. They know immediately how the kids did, right? So while there’s no huge rush, I am of course curious how my child did. Even though I realize it won’t change much for 4th grade. |
OP here. I mean i obviously know my kid passed. He just wants to know his score on one of the tests. They gave us math because they were in the math placement letters so why not the other scores? it is a strange policy IMO. |
ETA: Wanted to add. They put so much pressure on my kid to do well on the stupid thing and sent us home with like books upon books to study and they he doesn't even get to know his score for months? Again, a strange policy. |
In the era of standards based grading, I think it’s more than fair that a parent would actually want to know more information than “meets”. |
There's also usually a break down by topic. My kid had issues understanding fractions last winter. We worked on them and I think she gets it now, but if she bombed the fractions questions we'd practice more this summer. It would be good to see the score report. |
It is kind of weird to make a huge deal about doing well on the tests and then pivot to “scores don’t matter.” |
Right this is my main point. I'm not the OP, but if there were sections where my kid didn't do great, I'd want to know before the next grade started so we could be working on it. |
NP. I agree 100%. My kid was so stressed by their teacher’s pressure they started getting stomach aches. In third grade. |
Last year it was posted on 7/27 so probably sometime next week? I don’t remember getting the letter in mail. |
Thank you! I can't see the dates things are posted on parentvue for some reason (maybe that is because I use a phone not a computer?) |
My kid has had academic struggles and has failed several SOLs. They only let you know if you barely fail and fall into the small window of scores that can retake. They don’t let you know if they failed by a lot. At least in my experience at ES and MS levels. It might be different for SOLs needed for graduation. |
