We are now talking about wet ass p***y

She is talking about her WAP not someone else’s. Woman are allowed to talk about their own bodies anyway they want. She isn’t disrespecting or bringing any other woman into the conversation.
She is talking a boy herself her desires what she likes, what she wants, what she needs.

Exactly.

Cardi married a man who has a bunch of children by a bunch of different women and cheats on her every chance he gets. The songs really lose their appeal once you know how pathetic the real life situation is.

I don’t police the music, books or movies/tv of my teenagers. First off, doesn’t stop them - secondly- we all listened to similar stuff at that age. If you don’t like it, just ask them to not listen to it around you.

If I had a daughter, which I don't, I would rather her listen to Cardi B than read the Diet and Exercise forum on this website.

The latter is full of attitudes, eating disorders and bad information that is REALLY harmful for women.

Can't imagine how WAP hurts a girl any more than Get Your Freak On or Aint 2 Proud 2 Beg can.

Now wait just a minute! Don't put Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg in the same category!

Wet A.. P...y ... Yes, not a chance my DD is allowed to listen to her. She is disgusting.

Objectively, wap is vulgar; however, if you listen to the song with an open mind, it is hilarious. Men have made millions rapping far worse degrading misogynistic lyrics. When I finally listened to wap, I laughed, cringed and thought "good for them!". Cardi B has some tamer music in her catalog. She very astutely pointed out that when she sings or raps about love or tender topics, the records don't sell, but when she raps about her pu$$y, the money just rolls right in.

Well, that’s quite the sad indictment of our society.

Further, she doesn't allow her daughter to listen to her music.
Her daughter is 4. She doesn't make music for preschoolers. This is the tween forum, we are discussing tweens.

Cardi was filming herself singing along to one of her songs and Kulture walked in and Cardi freaked, shut the music off, etc. Of course the music isn't made for young kids, but she actively censored her own music from reaching her daughter's ears.

Because she's smart that way. Knows that trashy language makes big money but is not appropriate for children.

You’re over-thinking this. Or maybe it’s that you’re thinking like an adult (which you are) rather than like a kid.

Kids really don’t think much about the lyrics. Even when they’re singing them in the car. It’s kind of rote stuff.

And even if they do notice what they’re singing, they truly don’t care. It’s just music - not mentoring, parenting, or life lessons.

Relax and let your kid experience pop music. The less you focus on the lyrics, the less she will.

And trust that you’re doing a million little things day-to-day to raise her with good judgment. It’s that good judgment that allows her to know instinctively that pop music is just music, and pop stars are not role models (in fact they’re often playing characters they’ve created - it’s one part music, one part performance art for many of them. Art can be fun!)

Do you want to post her lyrics here, so that everyone can see what's appropriate for teens?

You think teens don’t hear this daily outside of cardi?

I raised my children from birth with good taste. I'm sure they'll be naughty sometimes, just like me, but what matters is the norm, not all the details.

It's OK to be a little gross when you understand that literature is fiction, not a role model.

Seriously. I listen to Cardi B, but I have no delusions that she is a ‘strong, independent woman’. Not a role model for your young daughters at all.

+1

And why are you only worried about “daughters”?

Sexist prude.

Any music that crudely degrades men and/or women reflects the "artists''" inner being and how they treat others. Cardi B's little girl is precious. Let's see how Cardi B reacts if her daughter is the focus of vulgar lyrics.

Singing about a “wet a$$ pussy” isn’t degrading to women.

Sexist prude.

You are a misogynist.

Being sex positivity isn't misogynistic.

Being sexist is though.

Well, I don’t know how sex positive, pro-feminist messages are when songs lyrics discuss “grabbing that bag.” On the stripper pole, the streets or by being a gold-digger baby mama. What kind of faux female empowerment is this?

It’s not female empowerment at all.

This woman’s desires include having a penis touch her uvula, and wiping her vagina on someone’s face. This is vulgar, obscene, and frankly shameful to tell an audience this. Just sickening, truly sickening.

Sure, if you want to make sure your dd listens to Cardi B, then ban her.

My friend who had everything banned ended up being wilder than the rest of us in college and as an adult.
