This is the most DCUM Covid post ever

You guys really need help

This air quality alert is bringing out the Covid crazies. They are thrilled to have something to freak out and scold everyone about again.

Cavalier statements like this aren’t going to age well. In the western states, where fires are more common, schools and sports organizations have policies about rescheduling recess, games, and practices at certain AQI thresholds. I used to live in Hong Kong 20 years ago, same story.

If/when fires start to affect the east coast more, expect your k-12 schools, youth sports organizations, and universities to follow suit.

+1

I'm from Utah, where covid deniers abound, and I believe all school districts keep keep kids inside for recess when the AQI is 150 or above.

Policies are reasonable. Hysteria is not.

Where is the hysteria?

Um, Door Dash because running out to the grocery store or to pick up takeout would just be too dangerous? Do you think that is someone who is rationally assessing risk?

Okay how many commenters said they were doing door dash? And do you know for sure that the one who is doing door dash doesn't have asthma or something?

I did a bit of yard work this morning but reluctantly decided not to go for a run, it’s otherwise perfect running weather but just doesn’t seem like a great idea right now.

Poor air quality cancellations are the new snow days.

This. is. your. future.

would you skip after school swim too? Its outdoors.

Purple air quality says kids and teens should not exercise outdoors.

Yes. If the air quality is in the red or purple, I would have my kids skip a lengthy, outdoor, physically active practice.

We lived in a poor air quality country for a number of years. We limited the kids' extended outdoor activity at 150 and shut it down completely at 200.

Our pool just closed for the day so it might end up being cancelled.

It's hilarious to see people in DC freaking out about air quality. Or, I should say, what to do when the air is bad. It's like watching DC people try to drive on icy roads. In other areas when the pollution is bad you just shrug and adjust outdoor activity accordingly and move on with your life instead of accusing others of being hysterical. Regardless of how conservative or liberal the area is.

It's really not that bad.

This is the wussification of America. Everyone is always looking for a reason for things to be difficult.

LOL "Be tough! Damage your lungs for no good reason!"

You guys are nuts. Nobody is getting damaged lungs from outdoor recess this week.

You all need to get treatment for your anxiety and hypochondria.

My doctor who has documented my lung damage would disagree with you. To answer the OP, yes, I'm limiting activity because I have lung damage. As to what others are deciding to do - they know their bodies best.

You're lungs were damaged from wildfire smoke you sustained while outdoors walking your dog?!?!

Or your lung were previously damaged from something else and fall into that 'vulnerable population' category?

Two widely different thing. I'm willing to bet that 99% of the kids staying home today, or being pulled from baseball practice, have perfectly healthy lungs that would not sustain any damage from attending school

My lungs were damaged from failed surgery. I think you are really going over the top on your posts (and realize, there are multiple people who are posting). The OP asked "Are you limiting your activity" not why, not "are you crazy for walking your dog"

I walked my dog and had to use my inhaler twice. My kid is at school, I don't know the status of her free time, but yesterday they were kept in doors.

I'm not sure why you are yelling at people who make a different choice than you.

Bc there are other people (on other threads admittedly) that are advocating for things like HS graduations to be cancelled.

I wonder if the professional athletes who train indoors when the air quality is bad think PP is impressive? I would guess not but I could be wrong.
